The biggest challenge with Agriculture for Millennials & Gen Z’s is not finances or access to markets (and these two are big issues, don’t get me wrong, ok?)
The biggest problem is EMPLOYEES!
Most of us want to make farming a side hustle, with the hope that once all our Ducks are in a row, we will fully transition into farming. Perfect plan, innit?
You & your boys/ girls have access to a few Kenyatta shillings. You can afford to lease 50-100+ acres of land, rear like 200+ Goats, Sheep & a few Sahiwal Bulls for meat production.
Enter the biggest challenge: Managing employees who will definitely be selling a few Kids for a song to your neighbors! Unless one of you is living on site & managing the group’s assets, mtaibiwa!
Anyone else agrees with my sentiments and what’s the solution because we all can’t be full time employees until we retire!
