Happy New Month, October 2026!

From all of us at Githurai Market Traders, we wish our traders, customers, partners, and families a blessed and prosperous month.

May October bring more business, better opportunities, good health, peace, and growth to us all. 🤝🏽

Let’s keep supporting one another and building a stronger, united Githurai Market.

Fresh Month. Fresh Opportunities. Fresh Beginnings.

Githurai residents are asking a difficult but fair question: Why does it appear that our area is being left behind by the Kiambu County Government?

The discovery of the dead body of a newborn baby at a garbage dumping site within Githurai New Modern Market is deeply disturbing and should be a wake-up call to the county leadership.

We respect Governor Wamatangi and the county administration, but Githurai deserves equal attention, dignity and reliable services.

The Kiambu County Government must act now—not tomorrow. We call on the relevant departments to urgently clear the accumulated garbage, restore regular waste collection, improve sanitation within the market and give residents a clear response on the measures being taken.

Githurai is part of Kiambu County. Our residents and traders deserve proper services, dignity and a clean, safe market.

Githurai Market Traders Raise Their Voice

All Githurai Market traders convened today to deliberate on concerns surrounding the reported proposal by the County Department of Trade to demolish the perimeter wall surrounding Githurai New Modern Market and replace it with container shops.

The traders are calling for transparency, proper consultation and meaningful public participation before any action is taken that may affect their businesses and livelihoods.

Sammy Kamunge, an incoming 2027 Mwiki Ward MCA aspirant, joined the meeting, listened to the traders and addressed the gathering on the concerns raised.

As the 2027 political conversation takes shape, the message is clear: development must be people-centred, accountable and inclusive.

The traders deserve a voice in decisions affecting their market and livelihoods.

We call for proper consultation, transparency and meaningful public participation before any action is taken.
