Many farming families trust us with their livelihoods, and we take that responsibility seriously every single day.

From building roads and supporting schools to rehabilitating football pitches and training the next generation of farmers, we are committed to growing together with the Transmara region in every sense of the word.

This is what adding sweetness to life really means to us. 💚

Transmara Sugar Company has officially commenced rehabilitation works on the football pitch at Enoosaen Boys High School. Once completed, the upgraded ground will give local students a proper surface to play and train on, and will serve as the home training ground for Mara Sugar FC as the team prepares for another season in the FKF Premier League.

This is what being backed by sugar really means to us. It means showing up in the community not just on match day, but in the schools, on the training pitches, and in the lives of the young people who call the Transmara region home.

We are proud to be funding this project and even prouder of what it represents for the next generation of footballers growing up right here in our backyard. We will be sharing updates as the works progress, so stay tuned. 💚

Did you know?

"Sugar" originally meant gravel. 🪨

The Sanskrit word śárkarā - meaning grit or pebble - described the texture of raw sugar crystals. It travelled through Persian, Arabic, French and Latin before English landed on "sugar" in the 13th century.

Today that journey ends in the Transmara region, grown by local Kenyan farmers into the Mara Sugar in your kitchen. 🌿

Last month, Mara Sugar FC held their end-of-season awards gala in Kilgoris and what a night it was!

Here's who took home the honours from our 2025/26 FKF Premier League campaign:

🏆 MVP — Jimmy Owili. 12 goal contributions in 34 appearances. The most attacking output of any defender in the league. What a debut season.
⚽ Joint Golden Boot — Dennis Cheruiyot & Alex Imbusia. Five goals each, and a third of our 30 league goals between them.
🧤 Best Goalkeeper — Joseph Ogenda. Seven clean sheets in just 17 appearances after joining mid-season.
🛡️ Best Defender — Robinson Msungu. A rock at the back, and part of a defence that kept 13 clean sheets all season.
🎯 Best Midfielder — Kevin Mwavali
📈 Most Improved — Timothy Ndayala
⭐ Young Player of the Season — Ainea Ndet

11th place. 44 points. Three places and eight points better than last season.

The Transmara region sits on the edge of the Maasai Mara which means more rain here, affecting the way the soil is, and that is exactly why the sugarcane grows the way it does. 🌍

Kenya's sugar industry supports the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of farming families across the country. But not all of Kenya's sugar regions are the same.

The Transmara region, sits outside the traditional sugar belt. It is known to be higher, wetter and less explored. When Transmara Sugar Company began here in 2012.

It may not have been the obvious choice but the results speak for themselves: Today, Mara Sugar is a multi-award winning East African sugar company, chosen by the Kenyan households that reach for it every day.

The valley was right all along. 🌿
