If you keep 10 dairy cows:
1 cow needs about 60kg of fodder daily
That means 10 cows need 600kg every day
In one month, that is 18 tonnes
In one year, you need 216 tonnes of fodder
Now here’s where many farmers go wrong.
1 acre of well-managed Napier grass can produce about 200 tonnes per year
On paper, that looks enough
But farming is not done on paper
There are dry seasons
There are losses during harvesting and storage
There are mistakes along the way
That is why a serious farmer plans for 1.5 to 2 acres for 10 cows
