BOMET SENATOR REACHES OUT TO ABIGAIL'S FAMILY:
A team from Bomet County Senator Hon. Hillary Sigei's office, alongside local leaders, visited the family of Abigael Chepkorir in Chebole. Findings from the assessment paint a deeply troubling picture of hardship caused by health-related challenges and a relentless cycle of poverty.

The family is currently landless and living in a rented house, which they have been unable to pay for over a year — a situation that continues to compound their struggles.

Abigael’s mother struggles daily, relying on dishwashing and cleaning jobs to sustain the household. She also cares for her aging mother and a mentally challenged sister amid the rising cost of living. With the added responsibility of caring for her brother, who was involved in an accident, the burden of providing for the family has largely fallen on her children, Abigael included.

"Together with other leaders and members of the community, I will be leading an empowerment initiative for the family to help restore their dignity.

Civilians in parts of central Haiti have reportedly blocked exit routes used by Kenyan police officers, fearing renewed gang violence as the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission concludes operations in the Caribbean nation.
Amateur footage from Petite Rivière and Pont-Sondé showed crowds barricading roads and attempting to stop security convoys heading toward St. Marc and other exit points, forcing authorities to deploy helicopters to evacuate officers from volatile areas.
The scenes underscore Haiti's fragile security reality as the final Kenyan contingents prepare to return home. On March 25, a third group of 208 officers landed at JKIA, received by senior officials including National Security Adviser Dr. Monicah Juma and Inspector General Douglas Kanja.
During their deployment, the officers secured airports, seaports, road networks, and humanitarian corridors, while supporting capacity building at the Haiti National Police Academy.
The MSS Mission is now transitioning to a new framework — the Gang Suppression Force — approved by the UN Security Council in October 2025. Chad will lead the successor mission, deploying up to 800 police officers and gendarmes, with the force expected to reach full operational strength of 5,500 personnel by October. South African UN official Jack Christofides has been appointed to head the new mission, replacing Kenya's Godfrey Otunge.
Armed gangs, however, continue to control significant Haitian territory despite sustained international intervention.
