FROM A DREAM TO A GROWING HERD.

Every goat, every challenge, every lesson and every small win has shaped the Dkay Farms journey.

We started with a vision, kept learning, kept improving and kept showing up.
Today, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, but even more excited about where we’re going.

From the drylands of Kitui to a growing vision for better goat genetics, nutrition and farming knowledge, this is more than farming. It’s a journey of purpose, patience and persistence.

The best is still ahead.

DRY-SEASON FEEDING: WE DON'T GIVE UP

Dry seasons test every farmer.
But the goal isn't to wait for the rains it's to prepare before the pasture runs out.

At Dkay Farms, our goats make the most of available grazing while receiving supplementary feed to keep their nutrition on track.

Natural grazing + supplementary feeding = a stronger, healthier herd, even when the grass is thin.
Because great goat farming isn't about luck with the weather.
It's about planning ahead.

WHY GENETICS MATTER IN GOAT FARMING

GOOD FEED CAN'T FIX POOR GENETICS.

Genetics influence:
✅️ Growth,
✅️ Body size
✅️ Kidding ability
✅️ Meat production
✅️ Overall performance.

At Dkay Farms, we focus on improving Galla genetics for a stronger and more productive herd.

You can improve nutrition and management, but the genetic potential of your goats still matters.
Build your herd with a purpose.

YOUR GOAT MAY BE TELLING YOU IT’S SICK WITHOUT MAKING A SOUND
Some sick goats don’t cough, collapse, or stop eating immediately.

3 SIGNS FARMERS OFTEN MISS:

1️⃣ Standing away from the herd
A goat that suddenly isolates itself or becomes unusually quiet deserves attention.
2️⃣ Changes in rumination
Healthy goats regularly chew their cud while resting. A noticeable reduction can be an early warning sign.
3️⃣ A change in posture or movement
Head down, hunched posture, reluctance to move, or unusual standing can signal that something isn't right.

Don't only check your goats when they look seriously sick.
Daily observation helps you spot changes early.

Healthy herds start with observant farmers.
Have you noticed any of these signs in your goats before?

Follow Dkay Farms for more practical goat farming lessons from the field.
