Safari Rally Kenya is back and Kenya is ALIVE.

while the rally cars are out there leaving nothing but dust and adrenaline on those tracks, our truck is out here doing exactly the same thing on Nairobi's estates. 🚛💚

different speed. different roads. same commitment to leaving nothing behind.

enjoy the rally Kenya. we will keep the city clean while you watch. 😄

After all the warnings about the upcoming El Niño rains, are we truly prepared?

It is frustrating to see the state of some of our trenches filled with plastic bottles, bags and other waste that should never have ended up there.

When heavy rains come, this waste can block water pathways and contribute to flooding. We shouldn't wait until homes, businesses and roads are affected before we take action.

Clean trenches are part of being prepared. Let's take responsibility for our waste and keep our drainage systems clear.

You know what clean looks like.

But do you know what it costs? 🤔

it costs someone waking up at 4AM when it is cold and dark outside. lacing up boots that have seen a thousand estates. pushing a bin down a quiet road before the neighbourhood even knows the day has started.

Clean is not a condition. it is a decision. made early. made consistently. made by people who take pride in work that most people never think twice about.

We think about it every single day.

POV: you just moved into your new estate. boxes everywhere. you are excited. fresh start. new beginning.

Then you walk outside and see this.

Overflowing bins. day one. before you have even unpacked.

Estate managers, your waste management reflects everything about how your estate is run. first impressions matter. and nothing kills a first impression faster than a bin that has clearly been ignored for weeks.

Do not let this be your estate.

Informal actors. formal impact.

J***y Bins was part of an important engagement on civil society and sustainable urbanisation, co-funded by the European Union alongside some of Kenya's most impactful urban development and climate justice organisations.

Being in rooms like this matters. because waste management is not just about collection, it is about building cities that work for everyone.

Nepal taught us something we cannot ignore. 🇳🇵

floods and landslides that destroyed entire communities. and at the heart of it — an environment that had been pushed too far for too long.

it is a painful reminder that what we do with our waste, our drains and our surroundings today determines what happens to us when the rains come tomorrow.

cleaner rivers. safer communities. reduced flood risk. a greener future.

it starts with us. right here. right now. 💚

Trash dumped in drainage systems today = flooded homes, diseases outbreaks, economic loss, environmental damages tomorrow. 💔

As we await the rainy season, let's keep our environment clean, our drainage open, for a safer community. ❤️‍🩹
