What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving? 🧡

As we gather around the table, I’m pausing to thank God for life, family, health, love, and the strength to keep going one day, one blessing at a time.

While you spend time with your family enjoying a slice of chocolate goodness or pumpkin pie, take a moment to share one thing you’re grateful for this year with them. Gratitude has a way of bringing us closer and reminding us how blessed we truly are. 🧡Drop it in the comments / family chat so we can celebrate together and remember how faithful God has been.

From my kitchen to yours, wishing you a warm, joy-filled, and peaceful Thanksgiving. 🦃🍰

With love,
Chef Charlette 🧑🏽‍🍳🤎

📚✨ International Literacy Day ✨🌍

Since 1967, the world has come together every 8th of September to celebrate the power of literacy — not just as reading and writing, but as a human right and a key to:
✔️ Justice – empowering people to claim their rights
✔️ Peace – breaking cycles of poverty and fostering dialogue
✔️ Sustainability – building more equitable societies

Today, ILD is celebrated with campaigns, events, and stories that remind us: literacy transforms lives and communities. Let’s continue to reach those still left behind — women, rural populations, and displaced communities. 💡🌱

On this First Sunday of June, we observe National Children’s Day in the U.S.—a day to recommit to the well-being, rights, and future of our children.

Children represent 100% of our future. Investing in education, healthcare, equity, and safe environments isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Let’s champion a world where every child has a voice, and every opportunity is within reach.

🔹 Note: The United Nations commemorates World Children’s Day on November 20, spotlighting children’s rights around the globe.

Thank you for the warm hospitality and for serving an incredible array of delicious Kenyan dishes during ’s visit to Kenya!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Ugali, sukuma wiki, fried tilapia, kachumbari, and those crispy, fluffy fried bean fritters.

Looking forward to our next visit and another exciting culinary collaboration!

Celebrating African Day. Africa Day commemorates the founding of the of African Unity (now known as the African Union) on this day, 25 May, in 1963. Formally known as African freedom day and then African Liberation day, its origin lies in the collective African resistance to colonialism and economic exploitation. The day was, and is, intended to highlight Africa’s continued collective struggle against adversity.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Today, we celebrate the heart of every home—the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who nourish our lives with love, care, and the kind of warmth that no recipe can replicate. As a chef, I know the power of a good meal, but nothing compares to the comfort of a dish made with a mother’s touch.

Wishing all the incredible moms out there a day full of love, joy, and of course, delicious food. You deserve every sweet and savory moment!

With gratitude,

For the Love and Food

Beat begins, slow and rhythmic, like a heartbeat or knife on a cutting board

I’ve burned my fingers and broken my back,
Chased flavor through fire, through hunger, through lack.
Stayed up stirring while the city sighed —
Midnight oil in my pan, and nowhere to hide.

For love…
I’ve plated peace on chipped porcelain thrones,
Fed joy to the lonely with broth and bones.
I’ve served forgiveness with a crusty roll,
And found my faith in a buttered soul.

But listen—
I won’t fake a flavor or serve a lie,
No sugarcoat mask, no pretense pie.
If it’s love, it’s raw — if it’s food, it’s real,
No stolen recipe, no crooked deal.

So no shortcuts.
No hollow art.
No selling out for a broken heart.

For love and food, I give my flame —
But never at the cost of my name.

Welcome Mary Waithera – Chef Intern & Hospitality Enthusiast!
We’re delighted to welcome Mary Waithera, a dedicated hospitality management student from Nairobi, Kenya, to our team. Currently interning at Melin’s Delicacies, Mary brings with her a passion for culinary arts and a growing repertoire in African, American, and Chinese cuisines—alongside a flair for baking.

Mary’s commitment extends far beyond the kitchen. Through her volunteer work with Vacation Bible School and Children of Hope, she’s demonstrated a deep compassion for others and a heart for service. She’s also expanding her horizons by learning both French and German, aiming to connect with people across cultures.
