WHAT'S BROODING?

Brooding is the process of providing a warm and safe environment for newly hatched 🐣 . Here are some key points to consider for successful brooding:

1. Brooder Setup Use a brooder box or an enclosed area with proper ventilation to house the chicks. Ensure it's secure from predators and drafts.

2. Heat Source: Chicks need a heat source to maintain their body temperature. A heat lamp or brooder plate is commonly used. The temperature should be around 95°F (35°C) for the first week and reduced by 5°F (2.8°C) each week until they are fully feathered at about 6 weeks.

3. Bedding :Provide clean and dry bedding, like wood shavings or straw, to keep the chicks comfortable. Change it regularly to maintain cleanliness.

4. Feeding: Offer a high-quality chick starter feed with at least 18% protein. Ensure access to clean water at all times.

5. Space: Provide enough space for the chicks to move around comfortably. Overcrowding can lead to stress and pecking issues.

6. Lighting: Maintain a regular light-dark cycle. C
