2011년 가을 밤 이태원 경리단길, 맥주를 사랑하는 동네친구 4명이 맥주를 마시다 의기투합한것이 맥파이 브루잉 컴퍼니의 시작입니다. 이것은 한국 수제맥주 붐의 시작이기도 합니다.
맥파이는 한국어로 까치, 한국에서 함께 살아가는 외국인으로서 좋은 소식을 가져다주는 까치처럼 한국에 반가운 맥주와 맥주문화를 선보이자는 것이 맥파이의 첫마음이었습니다. 그 마음은 창의적이면서도 누구나 쉽게 마실 수 있는 맥주, 지역 커뮤니티에 도움이 되는 맥주를 만들기 위한 노력으로 지금까지 이어지고 있습니다. 크래프트맨십이 담긴 맥주와 더불어 지향점이 분명한 맥파이의 디자인, 다양한 콜라보레이션 등을 경험하는 일은 한국 수제맥주의 현재를 경험하는 일이 될 것입니다.
Magpie Brewing Co. was started in the fall of 2011 in a quiet alley in Seoul by four friends who couldn't find the North American-style beers they liked and started homebrewing together. We began with a love for craft beer and culture and a belief that if we wanted something and it didn't exist, we could build it. Magpie opened with just one beer on tap at our first location (one of the first pale ales in Korea) and along the way, helped spark the explosion of the craft beer scene.
In Korea, the magpie is known to herald good news; like the bird, it's our mission to spread good beer and the culture of craft across the country. Magpie beers push boundaries and incorporate local unexpected ingredients but above all are always balanced. Craftsmanship, community and culture form the foundation; Magpie locations, design and collaborations all reflect those core values. Everywhere you find this little bird, you can experience what is happening in the Korean craft beer scene today.
2016년 제주 동회천동의 빈 감귤 창고를 개조, 모던하게 재탄생한 제주 맥파이 브루어리. 오픈하자마자 제주의 새로운 명소가 된 이 곳은 맥파이 브랜드의 철학과 미학을 엿볼 수 있는 의미 있는 공간입니다. 브루어리 투어를 미리 예약하면 양조설비 사이를 직접 거닐며 맥주가 만들어지는 전과정을 체험할 수 있습니다. 투어 후 맛보는 맥파이 맥주는 이전까지 와는 다른 친밀함으로 다가올 것입니다

맥파이의 2018년
지난 5년 매해 두 배 이상 성장을 거듭해온 맥파이에게 2018년은 특히 중요한 해가 될 것입니다. 오랫동안 준비해온 세계 정상급 캐닝 라인을 막 설치했고 본격적으로 캔, 보틀을 생산하게 되면 활동무대가 한결 넓어질 거라 예상합니다. 맥파이의 핵심역량이자 차별점인 맥주에 대한 다양한 실험도 활발하게 추진중입니다. 우선 포시즌 호텔 칵테일바 ‘찰스H’와 함께 지금껏 시도되지 않았던 전혀 새로운 제조방식으로 만든 칵테일 맥주를 선보입니다. 한국을 대표하는 차 브랜드 ‘오설록’과의 콜라보레이션도 그 뒤를 잇습니다. 맥파이가 전하는 반가운 뉴스는 이제 시작입니다. 2018년 한 해 맥파이가 어디까지 더 높이 날아오를지 될지 무척 기대가 됩니다. 함께 지켜봐 주십시오
In 2016, we opened our first brewery on Jeju island. An empty tangerine processing plant in the sleepy hamlet of Donghwaecheon was transformed into a beautiful microbrewery, and it’s already become a must-stop for visitors to Jeju. You can take a tour, see all the steps of the brewing process, and get a guided tasting of the Magpie beer lineup.
Here we brew both our year-round classic series and our ever-expanding roster of seasonals and one-offs. Each spring, summer, fall and winter we release at least 3 seasonal beers, always giving our fans a reason to come back to try something new.
At Magpie, we make the kinds of beers that we love to drink. We like to push boundaries (we brewed the first sour in the country) and incorporate local unexpected ingredients (recently we've made beers with a special Jeju tangerine peel used for Korean traditional medicine as well as sancho pepper, smoked Korean hobak pumpkins and persimmons) but above all we strive for balance and drinkability.
Every year we brew both our year-round classic series and our ever-expanding roster of seasonals and one-offs. Each spring, summer, fall and winter we release at least 3 seasonal beers, always giving our fans a reason to come back to try something new. If our seasonal beers are a chance to experiment and sometimes do the unexpected, our classic series is brewed to really highlight the Magpie hallmark of drinkability.

What’s next for Magpie?
In 2018, Magpie is launching our first packaged products ever so look for cans and bottles at Magpie bars and beyond. And keep an eye out for some of the most inventive and interesting beers Magpie has ever made, including Le 75, our French 75-style cocktail-inspired collaboration beer with Charles H. bar at the Four Seasons hotel, a one-off Baltic porter aged on sugar maple wood and Cuban rum, and an upcoming green tea beer in partnership with O'Sulloc in Jeju.
