Choose your Minhwa design. a playful tiger, a symbolic peony, or a Dancheong-inspired floral motif! and paint it on real hanji paper with traditional Korean pigments. No sketching from scratch. you start with a prepared outline and learn the actual colouring techniques used in Korean folk painting.

While you paint, we pour. 🍶

A curated flight of makgeolli and yakju, including exclusive pours from our in-house brewery introduced pour by pour as the afternoon unfolds. Bold, layered, and worth slowing down for.

At the end, your finished piece goes home with you, framed in an embroidery hoop.

From brewing to tasting, KCC 2026 was a full deep-dive into the world of Korean Sool.

We had Johnny's Sool Brewing Workshop, Tomorrow's Table leading a Jang Tasting that bridged fermentation culture across the table, Danong Bio uncorking the craft behind traditional distilled soju in their Masterclass.
HAVN brought something unexpected! a non-alcoholic masterclass showing that sool culture goes way beyond the ABV. And for anyone curious about where sool and sake converge (and where they part ways), J&J Brewery × Orchid Sake Brewery broke it all down side by side.

We couldn't catch every moment on camera (interpreting kept me busy!) but Mars Brewery, Onzi Brewery, Baekkyung Brewery, and Bewater Brew each brought their own incredible masterclasses to the floor, and every session was worth to join.

And that's not even the half of it. breweries poured, stories were shared, and every session was a reminder that Sool is a living tradition, not just a drink.

Great press coverage for our partners in Singapore, Dominic Tan of Sool Cellar!

The Sool Company has been exporting a dynamic portfolio of artisinal makgeolli and yakju to Singapore for the past 2 years. Dominic's vision for expanding the category of quality Korean alcohol has been inspiring to be a part of, and we couldn't be prouder of Sool Cellar's success.

Exporting unpasteurized makgeolli is not an easy road. It requires cold-chain logistics, short shelf-life management, dealing with changing and evolving flavours and endless packaging problems.

But Dominic and his Sool Cellar team are as passionate and committed as we are, and they are setting the example that it's all possible.

Growing the sool category internationally can't be done alone, and we are grateful to have such amazing partners who share in our crazy dreams!

CNA는 최근 보도에서 한국 음식이 싱가포르에서 확고한 인기를 얻은 데 이어, 한국 술 문화도 빠르게 주목받고 있다고 전했습니다. 대부분의 소비자들이 초록병 소주만을 떠올리던 한국 술의 이미지가 이제 변화하기 시작했다는 내용입니다.

함께한 지 어느덧 2년이 조금 넘었습니다. 그 시간 동안 저희는 탁주, 약주, 소주, 맥주 등 다양한 카테고리의 한국 술을 싱가포르에 수출해왔습니다. 싱가포르에 한국 술을 제대로 소개하고 싶다는 Dominic의 비전은 저희에게 늘 큰 영감이 되었고, 오늘 이 소식을 전하게 되어 정말 자랑스럽습니다.

한국술을 수출입하여 새로운 시장을 만들어가는 것 자체만으로도 쉽지 않은 일인데, 살균하지 않은 생주을 해외에 내보내도 관리하는 것은 차원이 다른 도전입니다.

콜드체인 물류와 비용, 짧은 유통기한, 시간이 지나며 변화하는 맛, 크고 작은 패키징 문제들... 넘어야 할 산이 한둘이 아닙니다.

그럼에도 Dominic과 Sool Cellar 팀은 저희 못지않게 열정적이고 헌신적으로 이 길을 함께 걸어왔고, 불가능해 보였던 것들을 하나씩 가능하게 만들어가고 있습니다.

한국술을 세계에 알리는 일은 결코 혼자 할 수 없습니다.
이제 막 시작입니다. 더 많은 관심이 필요하고, 더 많은 응원이 필요합니다.

The Whisky Exchange는 1999년 영국 런던에서 설립된 세계 최대 규모의 온·오프라인 증류주 전문 리테일러로, 위스키, 럼, 꼬냑, 메스칼 등 전 세계의 희귀하고 프리미엄한 증류주를 전문적으로 취급하는 곳입니다. 업계에서는 단순한 판매처가 아닌, 하나의 큐레이션 기준으로 인정받는 곳이기도 합니다.
약 50개국 이상에 온라인 판매를 하고 있기도 해서, 위스키 직구를 하시는 분들께는 익숙하시지 않을까합니다.

이전까지 이곳에 소주라는 카테고리 자체가 존재하지 않았는데, 이번 수출을 계기로 소주 카테고리를 새롭게 만들 수 있었습니다.
단순히 술 몇 종류를 수출한 것이 아니라, 증류주를 전문적으로 취급하는 The Whisky Exchange 같은 곳에서 소주의 가능성을 보고 주목하기 시작했다는 점에서 — 저희로서도, 전통주 업계로서도 큰 마일스톤을 달성한 순간입니다.

저희 회사 인스타의 98%는 영어인데다가, 인스타를 열심히 하는 것도 홍보를 잘하는 것도 아니지만, 10년이 훌쩍 넘는 시간 동안 외국어로 한국 술을 꾸준히 알려왔습니다.
그 시간 동안 가장 힘들었던 건, 시음 자리마다 "그게 뭔데?" "사케지요?", "초록 소주 같은 건가요?" 라는 말을 반복해서 듣는 것이었습니다. 그렇기에 한국 농산물로 만드는 전통 소주를 이토록 의미 있는 곳에 수출하고, 프리미엄 마켓에 성공적으로 진입했다는 사실이 더욱 감격스럽습니다.

1년이 넘는 시간 동안 단순 시음부터 시작해서, 다양한 부분을 조율하고, 수출서류를 쓰고, 선적하고, 통관하고.... 모든 과정을 세세하게 챙기며 이 순간만을 기다려왔습니다.
오래 걸리기도 했고 쉬운 일도 아니었지만, 그만큼 너무나 뜻깊고 보람 있는 일이었습니다.

이번 성과는 여러 양조장의 훌륭한 제품들을 함께 수출 할 수 있었기에 이룰 수 있었던 성과입니다.

수출의 모든 과정에 협력해주시고, 지원해주시고, 신뢰를 보내주신 양조장 및 증류소에 진심으로 감사드립니다❤️

저번주에는 사실 이미 The Whisky Exchange에서의 1차 전문가 대상 한국술 마스터 클래스가 진행되었고 역대급으로 많은 인원이 신청, 참여했으며, 온라인 스트리밍에서도 참여도가 굉장히 높았다는 피드백이 있었습니다.
4월에도, 5월에도 계속 영국 현지에서 업계 전문가 대상 한국술 마스터 클래스가 예정 되어있습니다.

수출은 시작일 뿐입니다. 사실 시장이 전무한 황무지 같은 곳에서 너무나 필요한 것은 한국에서의 꾸준한 관심과 지속적인 교육이며 이 교육이 판매로 이어지고, 그래야 꾸준하게 2차 수출, 3차 수출로 이어질 수 있다고 생각합니다.
이 노력의 결과가 어디로 향하는지 모르겠지만 많은 관심과 응원 부탁드립니다.

앞으로도 한국 술을 직접 소개하고, 더 많은 분들께 닿을 수 있도록 계속해서 노력하겠습니다.

The Story of Sancho Makgeolli

✦ Chef Joseph’s Philosophy

“Makgeolli is my favorite alcoholic drink.”

"At EVETT, we pair Sancho Makgeolli with abalone. There are generally two types of alcohol for pairing: those that taste great on their own, and those that are unique and interesting but too intense to finish a whole bottle. Sancho Makgeolli is so delicious that you’ll want to enjoy the entire bottle, not just a single glass."

“Rice, Makgeolli, and Sancho—these three elements connect naturally for me.”

"I was deeply impressed by the Korean culture of enjoying a glass of Makgeolli after a hike. Sancho is a plant native to Korean mountains, I found its unique aroma and flavor captivating." While taking photos at the peak of Yongmun Mountain, the idea of blending Makgeolli with Sancho struck him, sparking the product's development. "I tried making it at home first, but it wasn't very good," Brin added with a laugh.

The Development Story

Chef Brin, He focused on 'Sancho' (Korean Sichuan pepper), an ingredient typically known as a spice for fish stews. His bold proposal to use it in alcohol marked the beginning of the official development.

"The process took quite a long time. We continuously tested different ratios—1.5%, 2%, 3%—to find the perfect balance. The hardest part was finding that sweet spot; I believed the aroma and taste of the Sancho should be subtle so that anyone could enjoy it comfortably." The development took about seven months, during which over 70 liters of test batches were discarded.

The result is Sancho Makgeolli, which captures the eye with its mysterious light green. It is a collaborative masterpiece created by Brewer Jun-ho Min of The Sool Company, Chef Brin Cross, and Chef Joseph Lidgerwood.

The label design, featuring the breathtaking scenery of Yongmunsan, was hand-painted on traditional Hanji paper by Ye-chan Jeong, the Design Director of The Sool Company.

The collaboration was made possible through the existing relationships between Julia Mellor and Bona Kim, of The Sool Company, and Chef Joseph. These personal connections naturally paved the way for this special collaboration.
