Dalool’s Kitchen

Dalool’s Kitchen Join me as we cook, share stories, and learn Arabic together through the universal language of food. Welcome to Dalool’s Kitchen!

I’m Dalal, but most people call me Dalool. My love for food started in my mom’s kitchen in Kuwait, and over time it grew into a deep passion for exploring different cultures, cuisines, and languages. Through my journey, I’ve found that food is more than just nourishment—it’s a way to connect with others and discover new worlds. I can’t wait to share my journey, flavors, and stories with you.

A sweet pudding made with wheat, chickpeas, beans, dried fruit, and nuts sounds unusual today.

Yet this centuries-old dish is still made, shared, and celebrated across many homes and cultures.

Most people know about Failaka.

Far fewer know that Kuwait has nine islands.

Some are home to archaeological discoveries. Some protect important wildlife habitats. Some are popular with divers and fishermen. Others remain largely undeveloped or restricted because of their location.

Together, these islands reveal a side of Kuwait that many residents and visitors never get to see.

If you’ve ever taken a boat trip in Kuwait, gone fishing, visited Failaka, or explored one of the southern islands, I’d love to hear about your experience.

Which Kuwaiti island would you most like to visit?

Biryani started as a royal dish, but today it’s one of the most loved rice dishes in the world.

Fragrant rice, tender chicken, warm spices, and layers of flavor that come together in a single pot. Every family has their own version, and this is mine.

Comment “Biryani” and I’ll send you our special family recipe.

What’s your favorite kind of biryani?

Sometimes breakfast just needs to feel a little more exciting.

These bowls are inspired by dessert flavors I genuinely love, from tiramisu and cheesecake to tahini, chocolate, and matcha. They’re simple to make, visually beautiful, and an easy way to make breakfast feel less repetitive.

Which one would you actually try first?

Some desserts feel heavy. Some feel too sweet. This one somehow stays creamy, rich, spiced, and light all at the same time.

A soft carrot cake batter swirled with cheesecake, baked until perfectly marbled, then finished with cream cheese frosting and walnuts. The kind of dessert that disappears fast, one slice at a time.

This recipe is from my cookbook From My Modern Kitchen. Comment “CARROT” and I’ll send you the link.

Kuwaiti weddings are about much more than just the bride and groom.
From separate celebrations for men and women, to the bride’s entrance near the end of the night, many parts of the experience are very different from what people outside the Gulf might expect.

This video is just a small glimpse into what a Kuwaiti wedding can look like and how these celebrations are traditionally experienced.

How different is this from weddings where you’re from?

Collagen isn’t just found in powders.

For generations, many cultures have slowly cooked collagen-rich ingredients into nourishing soups, stews, and broths that are still eaten today.

Your relationship with coffee might have less to do with “tolerance” and more to do with how your brain and body naturally respond to caffeine.

Scientists have found that caffeine sensitivity can vary a lot from person to person, which is why some people can drink coffee late at night with no problem, while others feel shaky or awake for hours after a single cup.

Even things like stress, sleep quality, and how often you drink caffeine can change the way coffee affects you over time.
