CAT CYSTOTOMY
After diagnosing a urinary tract infection (UTI) in this 9-year-old cat,
X-ray revealed the presence of a urolith within the urinary bladder.
Urinalysis showed no crystalluria, making it impossible to determine the stone’s composition.
A therapeutic urinary diet was initiated along with antibiotic therapy, and the patient was monitored for changes in stone size.
After six weeks, no reduction in urolith size was observed, and the patient’s clinical signs recurred.
Consequently, surgical removal of the bladder stone (cystotomy) was performed to resolve the condition and improve the cat’s quality of life.
