Yesterday at NTF… the world met over a cup of tea 🌍🍃

A young group of travelers from Israel found themselves in a bit of difficulty during their journey, running short of fuel.

When I heard they were here, I came down expecting to see worried faces…
Instead, I found them calm, relaxed, and enjoying their tea as if nothing had happened. ☕🙂

Around the same time, another set of visitors from Russia had just signed our guest book; from a completely different part of the world, with a completely different story.

Different countries… different journeys… sometimes even different perspectives,
yet here they all were, under one roof, sharing the same space, the same warmth, the same cup of tea.

And interestingly, both the Russian and Israeli guests agreed on one simple truth:
“Nandana is the best.” ❤️

In a world that often speaks of differences…
we quietly witness something else,
how tea brings people together.

Just look at today’s guest book… what a beautiful blend of the world! 🌍

Different countries, different languages, different cultures.. yet all united by a shared moment over a cup of tea at Nandana Tea Factory.

This diversity is what makes our journey so vibrant and meaningful. At NTF, there are no boundaries of nationality, ethnicity, religion, or language… only smiles, stories, and friendships brewed together.

We are truly grateful to welcome the world.

Some friendships are measured not by time… but by heart. ❤️

This is Roman Kowdale from the Czech Republic, my dear friend for nearly 20 years. After about 8 years, he visited us again at Nandana Tea Factory. Seeing him walk in brought back a flood of memories… laughter, journeys, and moments we shared across countries.

The small framed photo was taken in March 2013 — 13 years ago, when I visited him in the Czech Republic. Life has moved on, time has changed us, but true friendship remains untouched.

When Roman first came to Sri Lanka years ago, he hadn’t seen another Czech person here. Today, places like Meddewatta in Matara feel almost like a little Prague, how the world changes in beautiful ways.

Health may not always allow us the time we wish for… but moments like these become even more precious.
Friendship, memories, and gratitude — that is what truly matters.

Welcome back, my friend. 💛

A Visitor from a Truly Unique Place!

Today we had a delightful couple visit us from a country many people have never heard of – Jersey, in the Channel Islands.

Jersey is a fascinating little island with a very special status. Although it comes under the British Crown, it is not part of the United Kingdom. The island has its own elected government, its own laws, its own judiciary system, and even its own currency. Britain is responsible only for its defense and international relations.

In many ways, Jersey’s constitutional setup reminds us of old Ceylon – self-governed, proud, and independent in spirit while still connected to the Crown.

Their accent was different from what we normally recognize as British English, and learning about their homeland was a wonderful cultural exchange for us.

Imagine – an entire country with only about 106,000 people, yet such a rich identity and history!

Another day at NTF, another beautiful story from across the world 🌍

A visit that brought back many memories…
🇵🇰🤝🇱🇰

This morning we were honored to welcome a distinguished professor from Peshawar University, Pakistan, who is in Sri Lanka on an official visit to the University of Ruhuna.

Pakistan has always been close to our hearts — a nation known for its warmth, dignity, and beautiful people.
Meeting this charming gentleman reminded me of the deep friendship between our two countries.

We still remember how Pakistan stood by Sri Lanka during the 1996 World Cup, cheering us on when we needed support the most. And beyond cricket, Pakistan has always been there for Sri Lanka during difficult times — when many others chose to look away.

Some friendships are not written in agreements… they are written in hearts.

A little story behind කරාබු (earring)

When I told this lovely Czech visitor that cloves are called “කරාබු නැටි” in Sinhala, and that earrings are also called “කරාබු”, she was fascinated.

I shared how, many years ago, Sri Lankan girls would gently use cloves as temporary earrings when their parents couldn’t afford real ones.

With a smile and curiosity, she decided to try it herself; a simple moment that beautifully connected culture, history, and human curiosity. 🌿💛

Some connections don’t need introductions…

This lovely young lady from Russia visited us sometime in 2024.

Yesterday morning, during a very busy hour, she suddenly appeared again, arriving alone on a scooter.

At first, I couldn’t recognize her.

But she remembered me clearly and asked for just one thing… a photo together.

She didn’t want to visit the garden or the factory this time; only to say hello and capture a memory.

Moments like these remind me that what we create here at NTF goes far beyond tea.

It’s about warmth, familiarity, and leaving a little impression that brings people back, even after time has passed.

Grateful for these unexpected reunions. 🌿✨

When Tea Meets the Spirit of Friendship 🍃🥃

A special gift from a visitor from the Czech Republic — 62% 'Tatratea', a bold forest-fruit tea liqueur, rich in tradition and warmth.
A powerful reminder that tea connects cultures in many forms: from a gentle Ceylon brew to a spirited European infusion.

Grateful for the gesture, the friendship, and the shared love for tea; in every expression it takes.

What a blend! 🌿☕

Bitter Gourd Tea from NTF; a truly unique creation.

At Nandana Tea Factory, we’ve blended our signature Pure Ceylon Black Tea with bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) to create something special. And here’s the surprise, despite the name, it’s not bitter when you sip it. It carries a distinct, refreshing character that grows on you with every cup.

During a recent tasting session, this blend was tried by a lively group of Russian visitors (seen blurred in the background), and the verdict was unanimous; unexpected, different, and absolutely enjoyable.

Bitter gourd, widely used in Asian cuisine and traditional wellness practices, is celebrated for its health benefits, especially in managing blood sugar. At NTF, we’ve carefully balanced its bold nature with fine Ceylon tea, creating a cup that is both wholesome and pleasant.

A new taste. A new experience.
Only at Nandana Tea Factory.

Tea, people, and stories; captured forever !

This lovely hand-drawn sketch by an American guest shows how she experienced our Directors, Mr. Gunasoma Wanigasekara and Ms. Ramani Wellapili, calm, kind, and deeply connected to what they do.

Art has a way of preserving feelings words sometimes can’t.

Another Milestone for NTF 💚

We are delighted to share that Nandana Tea Factory’s Tea Centre has been awarded the official “Grade A” Certification — a recognition recommended by the Department of Health Services, Southern Province and endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture.

This is the first time in Sri Lanka that such a Government certification has been awarded to a tea centre operating within a functioning tea factory.
A remarkable honour, and one that truly humbles us.

We are proud; not of ourselves, but of the collective trust and love that thousands of guests from around the world have placed in us.

Your encouragement has pushed us to maintain excellence in hygiene, quality, safety, and hospitality.

Thank you for inspiring us to reach higher. 🙏
We will continue to serve you with sincerity, integrity, and care.

— Team NTF

A note from Gunasoma Wanigasekara - Owner/Operator of Nandana Tea Factory, Akuressa.

I never expected this.
To see Nandana Tea Factory listed as the most liked and most reviewed tea factory in Sri Lanka, even surpassing giants in the trade; this truly humbles me.

What makes me happiest is that we achieved this without a single paid review, without hired social-media boosters, without any cyber gimmicks.

Every one of those reviews came from real visitors, who genuinely enjoyed what we do here. And that, to me, is worth far more than any digitally engineered ranking.

I’m someone who has zero knowledge about online boosting or “කොම්පියුටර් ජිල්මාට්.”
The only thing I know—and the only thing I’ve ever done—is to give every visitor my fullest attention, kindness, and sincerity.

Many people often tell me:
“You shouldn’t go to the ground-level work.”
“You should hire professionals to handle everything.”

But my way has always been different.
- to walk with my visitors through the garden,
- to personally explain the trees,
- to brew tea with them,
- to listen to their stories,
- to treat them not as customers, but as friends who found their way to NTF.

Today, seeing this recognition, I can say with a full heart:

It has paid off.
Not in money, but in the love of people from around the world.

Thank you to every visitor who walked through our gates, shared a smile, wrote a review, or carried a memory of NTF back home.

You made this possible.
❤️🌹🥰
