We would like to issue the following statement in response to recent unsubstantiated rumours regarding the ownership of our business enterprise.

Ransara is an entirely family-owned business and has been kept in one family for three generations. At no time has ownership left the family, through partial or wholesome sale to any third party.

Started by Mr. WM Amaris Appu as a small bakery in early 1960s, upon his demise, it was handed down to his son Mr WM Karunasena who proceeded to make Ransara an iconic brand in Kurunegala.

Following the untimely passing of Mr WM Karunasena in 2008, his son Mr Hemanga Karunasena took over the reigns to continue in his fathers footsteps and keep family tradition alive. With the recent addition of Hangout and Golden Paddy Banquets to its already successful portfolio of outlets, In&Out and Nawa Rathnagiri, a small business with humble origins, Ransara has now become one of the largest family owned businesses in Kurunegala.

The current board of directors include Managing Director Mr Hemanga Karunasena, his wife Mrs Patalee Karunasena and his mother Mrs. Padma Karunasena.

We look forward to continuing our fine family tradition into the next generation and to continue contributing to our community of which we are a proud part.
