In the Name of God, I Declare the Truth
My name is Roshan Madushanka, and I am 36 years old (born on August 15th). For the past two years, I have been suffering, and I don't know where to go or what to do anymore. I don't even know where to start my story.
I worked under my parents until I was 25 years old. After that, I worked very hard and started my own business at the age of 32. None of us had money, and my father, who is 68 years old, is a carpenter, while my mother is sick. Despite these challenges, I took out loans with high interest and poured everything I had into my business, working tirelessly to make it successful.
But then, everything suddenly fell apart. My business failed, and I was left with nothing. The people who lent me money are now threatening to kill me. I had to flee my village, and now I am hiding with my wife and two children. In my absence, they started harassing my parents. When I could do nothing more, my parents brought us to their place.
Now, I can't even go to work because the people who lent me money are looking for me. My father, despite his age, goes out to work to support us, but the little money he earns isn't even enough to pay the rent. My eldest child, who is 9 years old, has been in school for 3 years, but since the day we left our village, he hasn’t been able to go to school because we are afraid to send him.
My mother needs around 15,000 rupees per month for her medication, but for a long time now, she hasn’t been taking her medicine because we simply can't afford it. I am at a loss for words to describe our situation.
I can’t die and leave my family alone to face this. I can’t imagine what they would do without me. We are struggling in every possible way, and I don't know what to do anymore.
I am not able to ask for help from the people in Sri Lanka because everyone here is living with great difficulty. But I have nothing left to do but to plead for help.
Please, even a small amount would make a huge difference and could save my family's lives.
