At Greenwood Tea Factory, our primary business model has been producing tea to the Colombo Tea Auction. We supply our teas in bulk through three top list tea brokers. They inspect and catalogue our teas and present it to Colombo Tea Auction, the largest of its kind in the world. y introducing a special range of our teas globally, with a mission to let the global tea aficionados to experience the unique unblended taste of garden fresh, single estate, Ceylon Teas. The history of GREENWOOD dates back to 1850’s, where the early British planters established a coffee plantation in a mountainous land in the western region of the central Kandyan hills. When the coffee industry was hit by 'Hemileia vastatrix' or 'Devastating Emily' as nicknamed, the decease that almost forced estates to go for alternative crops in the late 19th century, GREENWOOD was also been converted into a lush Tea fields, in the 1890s. The current Tea Factory was commissioned in 1925 and had been managed by both foreign and Local companies time to time, until late local entrepreneur and philanthropist A.W.M. Ukkubanda acquired both the plantation and the factory in 1968. Since then, for almost a half a century, GREENWOOD has been managed by the Bandara family and currently by the second and third generations. Our goal is to help local communities to enhance their livelihoods by maximizing earnings to retain within the producing region. Green leaves for our teas are sourced from our own tea gardens and from over 1500 tiny tea gardens of small tea growers in Nawalapitiya of 'Western Medium-Kandy' tea region. Cautiously selected green leaves are received within the same day of plucking. After a skillful process of withering, rolling, firing & sifting, several grades of teas are produced and packed at the factory according to Colombo Tea Auction demand. Teas that are produced for direct sales come to you without middlemen and without ageing in warehouses for weeks & months, therefore the freshness, goodness and the integrity of the teas are well preserved.

We are growers & producers of Ceylon Tea, located in Nawalapitiya, in this beautiful tropical island of Sri Lanka. Our produce belongs to Western Medium Ceylon Tea Category. Greenwood Tea Garden was established in 1890 and Greenwood Tea Factory have been commissioned in 1925. Our primary business model has been producing tea to the Colombo Tea Auction. We supply our teas in bulk through three top list tea brokers. They inspect and catalogue our teas and present it to Colombo Tea Auction, the largest of its kind in the world.
