MAJOR GENERAL DAVIDSON FAYIAH FORLEH LAYS WREATH IN MEMORY OF OFFICER MARK D. BRACEWELL
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major General Davidson Fayiah Forleh, on today, 30 September 2025, laid wreath in memory of the late Liberia National Police (LNP) Officer Mark D. Bracewell.

Officer Mark D. Bracewell met his untimely demise in a tragic motor accident on Saturday night, 27 September 2025 while discharging official national duty right after the Gabriel Tucker’s Bridge near Via Town LNP checkpoint in Monrovia.
The Minister of Justice, Hon Oswald N.

Tweh and the Inspector General of the LNP Commissioner Gregory O.W. Coleman along with Major General Forleh attended a brief ceremony in memory of Officer Mark D. Bracewell at the Via Town LNP Checkpoint.

During the brief memorial ceremony, General Forleh expressed heartfelt regrets over the tragic and untimely demise of the officer and extended sympathy to the deceased family and the LNP.

General Forleh condemned the action of the driver as outrageous and unacceptable while urging the LNP to remain unwavering in the discharge of their duties.

For his part, the Inspector General of the LNP Commissioner Gregory O.W. Coleman, emphasized that adequate and appropriate logistics including necessary benefits are vital to police operations.

“In order for us to put our lives on the line to serve, we have to be served as well” said Inspector General Coleman. He used the memorial ceremony to draw government attention to the lack of a posthumous pension scheme for LNP personnel and respectfully requested government consideration.

Hon Osward Tweh described the tragic and untimely demise of Officer Bracewell as heart-breaking and called for a moment of silence to memorialize the late officer. He assured the Police IG that government will take the necessary action to avoid a reoccurrence of such tragic incident.

Monrovia — On September 29, during a press conference held at the temporary headquarters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Alvin Wesseh, Vice Chair for Political Education of the Youth League, accused Deputy Minister Cornelia Kruah of disbursing US$250,000 to Unity Party leaders in Montserrado County, supporters, and the leadership of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS).

CDC Alvin Wesseh Alleges $250,000 Paid to Coerce Airport Welcome for President Boakai, as Deputy Minister Cornelia Kruah Denies.

According to Wesseh, the funds were used to pressure civil servants and MCSS students to forcibly attend a welcoming event for President Boakai at Roberts International Airport.

“They are forcing students and civil servants, some of whom disagree, to go and receive President Boakai, just like how Liberians willingly volunteered to welcome former President Weah,” he stated.

However, when contacted, Deputy Minister Cornelia Kruah strongly denied the allegation, saying, “It’s untrue. One thing is certain we don’t need to disburse $250,000 for any welcoming program at the airport.”

When asked if she is aware of partisan groups mobilizing at the airport to receive the president,
“I cannot confirm that, as I haven’t been involved in any mobilization for the airport,” She responded emphasizing that she is unaware of any such activities or disbursements linked to her office.

Meanwhile, President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia today after attending the United Nations 80th Anniversary in New York, USA, and the Liberian First Diaspora Conference in Washington, D.C. His arrival comes following the recent return of his major political contender, George Weah, to Liberia a week ago.
