At ThéRâPie, summer is lived with grace. We have gathered for you a carefully curated selection of Japanese fans — the *sensu* — to transform the heat into a moment of softness.
Far more than an accessory, the sensu is an object of art and refinement. Born in Japan over a thousand years ago, it has accompanied everyday gestures and the noblest of arts: the tea ceremony, dance, nō theatre.
To unfold it is to grant yourself a breath of air; to fold it closed is a gesture steeped in restraint and elegance — the very spirit of *omotenashi*.
Each fan awaits you at our boutique, at 32 rue du Curé. Come discover it, and let summer caress you with nothing but delicacy.
扇子 (Sensu)
The term designates the *folding fan*, a Japanese invention born in the Heian period. Not to be confused with the *uchiwa* (団扇), the rigid fan that came from China. In the tea ceremony, the sensu rests closed before you, like a symbolic boundary marking respect and humility.
