🤔 Piżelli jew irkotta? 🫦 🥙🥙🥙
Malta’s beloved pastizz has officially made it into the Oxford English Dictionary, and the British High Commission couldn’t resist celebrating.
And honestly, what better way to mark the occasion than by biting into a warm, flaky pastizz?
“We are thrilled to see “pastizz”—officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in its January update—honouring Malta’s culinary and linguistic contributions to the world, and the shared heritage between our nations,” the High Commission said.
And pastizz isn’t the only Maltese treat making waves—“aljotta” and “bigilla” have also snagged a spot in the latest dictionary update. Time to celebrate Maltese flavours going global!
Of course, they couldn’t resist asking the ultimate foodie question: do you prefer ricotta or pea pastizzi? And we're equally as curious 🤔 Let us know your pastizzi preference in the comments down below 👇
