What does Riżerva actually mean?
It is a legal term. In Malta, it means the wine has met specific ageing requirements — in this case, at least 12 months in barrique and 6 months in bottle.
That time does something. The oak adds spice and complexity. The tannins settle. The wine becomes more of itself.
