La Meule is a permaculture inspired, agro-tourism demonstration and education center inspiring sustainable, nutritious food, hidden away in the heart of Anse Bambous valley, near the village of Bambous Virieux, on the picturesque south east coast of Mauritius island. So of course, one of our favorite trips is a guided tour of the Farm, or, you can enjoy a self guided tour around the gardens and then relax with a tea / coffee. This extremely informative experience will teach you about permaculture lifestyle designs, and sustainable agriculture, as well as get you into the local culture of rural Mauritius. We grow a variety of fruits and vegetables which you’ll be able to taste fresh off the gardens during your tour. After the farm tour, use the wi-fi inside the café, or you can grab a book from our library, sunscreen and a refreshing drink outside at one of our picnic areas. Read a book, and bask in the tropical sun by the refreshing sounds of water flows. It’s amazing how a relaxing river bath will really build up your appetite. So afterwards you’ll enjoy a homemade lunch prepared from fresh organic produce. Farm Meals are typically local, and more importantly incredibly nutritious and delicious! With a limited number of people enjoying a meal prepared by us (the cook and the gardener). You will have to trust us, leave it to us completely as we serve you the best from our garden. Enjoy the pure, organic taste of our produce and relax in a setting that we have chosen. We are open from 10.30 am. Lunch is served from 12.30 pm. Pre booking is recommended as we cater for limited numbers and hate turning people away.
