DAY 2 | Turning Inclusive Agribusiness Principles into Action 🇲🇼

Today, NutriCare Consultants Ltd continues to participate in the CGIAR Scaling for Impact Program – Water and Soil Accelerator (WASA) capacity-building workshop at Crossroads Hotel, Lilongwe.

After yesterday’s dialogue on creating an enabling environment for youth agribusiness, Day 2 moved from conversation to practical application—equipping SMEs, cooperatives and private-sector actors with tools to build more inclusive, gender-responsive and investment-ready businesses.

Today’s sessions explored:

🔹 Inclusive business models for sustainable agribusiness growth
🔹 GESI self-scoring to assess how businesses are performing on gender equality and social inclusion
🔹 Developing practical Gender Action Plans (GAPs)
🔹 Measuring GESI progress using clear criteria and indicators
🔹 Developing progress trackers to turn commitments into measurable results
🔹 Applying the Inclusive & Responsive Business Canvas Model
🔹 Using the Enabling Environment Toolbox to identify and address barriers to investment and growth

One of the key lessons from today is clear:

💡 Inclusion should not be an afterthought in business—it should be designed into the business model from the beginning.

For agribusinesses to grow sustainably, we need models that create meaningful opportunities for women, youth and other underserved groups, while also delivering strong commercial value.

At NutriCare MW , we are committed to supporting a more inclusive and resilient agri-food system where businesses can grow profitably while creating shared value for communities, farmers and consumers.

As I continue participating in this programme, also in my capacity as an African Food Changemakers (AFC) Ambassador for Malawi, I am particularly excited about how these tools can translate into practical action across Malawi’s agribusiness ecosystem. 🌍

From policy dialogue to practical tools. From commitments to measurable action.

DAY 1 | Shaping the Future of Youth Agribusiness in Malawi 🇲🇼

Today, I am proud to be participating in the Youth Agribusiness Policy Dialogue in Malawi, convened under the CGIAR Scaling for Impact Program – Water and Soil Accelerator (WASA) at Crossroads Hotel, Lilongwe.

I am participating in two capacities—representing NutriCare Consultants Ltd and also as an African Food Changemakers (AFC) Ambassador for Malawi. 🌍🇲🇼

The dialogue brings together young agripreneurs, SMEs, government, private-sector actors, financial institutions, development partners and other key stakeholders to tackle one critical question:

How do we create an enabling environment where young people can build, scale and invest confidently in agribusiness?

Today’s discussions are focusing on:

🌾 Youth agribusiness and policy barriers

💰 Access to finance and investment

📈 Markets and value-chain opportunities

👩🏽‍🌾 Gender and inclusive business models

💧 Land, water, irrigation and climate resilience

🎯 Skills, mentorship and business development services

At NutriCare, we believe empowering young entrepreneurs goes beyond training. It requires supportive policies, access to finance and markets, strong business ecosystems, innovation, mentorship and inclusive investment opportunities.

As an AFC Ambassador, I am equally passionate about connecting Malawi’s young food and agriculture innovators to broader conversations, networks and opportunities that can accelerate Africa’s agri-food transformation.

Malawi’s youth should not only be beneficiaries of agricultural development. They must be investors, innovators, employers, entrepreneurs and leaders of the transformation.

Today, we listen. We learn. We connect. And we contribute. 🤝🏾

🚀 The future of Malawi’s agribusiness is young—and the time to invest in that future is now.
