Choose Breeding Gilts and Sows with good teat count

At MAAG FARM , we ensure our breeding sows have a good teat count

Why teat count is important for breeding sows?

1. More teats = more pigs raised. Plain and simple. Every extra working teat can mean weaning 1 more piglet per litter.

2. It's about survival. Piglets need their own spot. If there aren't enough teats, the runts lose out—and they don't make it.

3. Not all teats are created equal. Count them, but check them too. Useless ones (flat, blind, or tiny) don't count. Only working teats matter.

4. It runs in the family. Pick sows with good teats, and her daughters will likely have them too. It pays off fast.

5. The Golden rule: Look for at least 12 to 14 good teats
