Commercial chicken farming demands expertise, understanding, and unwavering commitment for success. Getting your poultry housing right is crucial for laying a solid foundation for your venture. Here's a handy checklist to guide you through poultry house construction:

🌟 Provide Comfort: Ensure your poultry house offers a comfortable environment shielding birds from weather extremities like rain, wind, and direct sunlight.

🌟 Spaciousness: Allocate adequate space based on stocking density:

Layers: 1m² for 6 birds
Broilers: 1m² for 11 birds

🌟 Ventilation: Opt for an open-sided house with east-west orientation to allow natural airflow. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.

🌟 Structure: Construct a rectangular-shaped house with a wall not exceeding three feet in height on the longer side. Opt for materials like stones, iron sheets, or bricks for durability.

🌟 Mesh Matters: Use a small gauge chicken wire mesh to prevent entry of wild birds, dogs, and rodents. Consider a plastic-coated mesh for longevity.

🌟 Roofing: Choose a reflective surface for the roof and ensure proper pitch for ventilation. Maintain adequate gap between birds and roof to prevent heat stress.

Everything You Need To Know About Kuroiler Chicken Breed

Kuroiler is a genetically improved breed from India. This variety of chicken is derived from crossing coloured broiler males with Rhode Island Red females. This is a dual-purpose breed since it can be used for producing eggs and meat.

They grow faster than other indigenous chickens. The maturity period is about 10 weeks compared to local breeds that take several months to mature. At maturity, Kuroiler chicken weigh about 3.5kg as compared to other breeds that weigh 2kg.

Kuroiler chicken perform quite well under what experts call “scavenging conditions”. You can feed them on animal or plant remains as well as commercial feed.

One thing about this chicken is that despite being a hardy breed, it is not encumbered by low productivity. While indigenous chicken produce about 40 eggs per year, Kuroiler does about 150 eggs in the same period.

While ordinary chicken weigh 2 kg, Kuroiler weighs 1.5 kg more. The only disadvantage with this breed of chicken, however, is that they don’t incubate and hatch their eggs. So you would need to purchase an incubator.
