Dr. Ruth Magreta is a lecturer at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She is leading a collaborative research project which aims to optimize industrial operations particularly in agriculture, supply chains, and manufacturing by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), recommender systems, and deep learning models.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with researchers from the University of Rwanda and Nourieutic Food in Malawi to address inventory management, production planning, and quality control challenges that have arisen in both countries due to the limited use of data-driven technologies.

The project focuses on building AI models for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, contamination detection, and real-time analytics dashboards. The project is also seeking to implement AI-driven recommender systems to streamline production planning and resource allocation.

The AI-based digital solutions are expected improve food safety, reduce waste, and increase productivity in key sectors, leading to more stable and affordable products for consumers.
