If all Cabinet Ministers exhibited the same dedication and zeal as Hon Paulosi Chisale, Malawi would likely experience significant positive change. His passion for assisting individuals facing challenges in obtaining passports from the immigration department is commendable. However, upon closer examination, the root cause of the department's inability to produce sufficient passports appears to stem from inadequate resource allocation, which can often be attributed to politicians or the government itself. The challenges faced by the immigration department are solvable, provided it is granted operational autonomy and freed from political influence.By granting the department the necessary resources and autonomy, it can function effectively. Furthermore, an increase in passport applications may indicate the government's failure to create sustainable economic opportunities for its citizens. Improving the economy would likely reduce the demand for passports. One must consider the implications of citizens seeking better opportunities abroad due to unfavorable economic conditions.
