CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH-OWNED BUSINESSES TO ACCESS MBS PRODUCT CERTIFICATION SUPPORT

Are you a young entrepreneur producing goods that are ready for bigger markets but need certification to grow?

The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM), in partnership with the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS), is inviting youth manufacturers to apply for support towards accessing product certification services.This opportunity is aimed at helping young manufacturers improve product quality, meet recognized standards, and position their businesses for opportunities in formal markets, including supermarkets, larger supply chains, and institutional buyers.

The opportunity follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NYCOM and MBS aimed at promoting youth-led Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by improving access to quality standards, market opportunities, and enterprise development support.

Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must:
• Be a Malawian youth aged 18–35 years;
• Own or operate a youth-led enterprise;
• Have a product that requires MBS certification;
• Be ready to improve product quality and expand their market reach.

Expected support to Youth Led Enterprise;
• Capacity development for youth-owned and led enterprises on business management, entrepreneurship and other innovative skills
• Access to suitable output markets for the youth through trade fairs and market linkages.
• Access to product certification for youth owned and led enterprise by the Malawi Bureau of Standards to enhance market accessibility.
• Transform mindset and perceptions of the youth by raising awareness towards product and service certification by providing incentives such as waivers, reduced certification fees and other supportive measures.
• Business formalization and certification
