Some people think anxiety means you're weak, overthinking, or that your faith isn't strong enough.
But the truth is often much deeper.
Anxiety is sometimes the result of a nervous system that has spent months, or even years, learning to stay alert, protect itself, and prepare for danger before it arrives. It's a heart that has carried heavy things. It's a mind that has been trying to survive.
If you're struggling with anxiety today, remember this:
You don't have to feel guilty for being tired.
You don't have to feel ashamed for needing rest.
You don't have to pretend everything is okay when it isn't.
Faith isn't the absence of fear.
Courage isn't the absence of anxiety.
Sometimes faith is simply choosing to keep going, even when your heart feels overwhelmed.
Sometimes faith is praying through tears.
Sometimes faith is trusting God while your mind is still searching for peace.
God does not move away from wounded hearts.
He does not reject those who are struggling.
He comes closer.
Closer to the exhausted.
Closer to the anxious.
Closer to the people who feel like nobody understands what they're carrying.
Your anxiety does not make you less worthy of love.
It does not make you a failure.
And it does not separate you from God's compassion.
Maybe today you don't need to be stronger.
Maybe you just need to remember that you are not alone.
