Fun Fact: To keep the quality of this regional Bourgogne exceptionally high, Louis Jadot uses a traditional blending method called “replis.” This means they actually blend in a proportion of superior, pricier village-level grapes into the final bottle, giving you a taste of premium red Bourgogne at an affordable price point!

Have you explored regional French Pinot Noir, or do you usually stick to domestic options like Oregon and California? Let me know your favorite region below!

LOUIS JADOT BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR
Vintage: 2022
Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: Bourgogne AOC, France
ABV: 13%

Thoughts: The 2022 growing season in Bourgogne was fascinating. An early spring gave way to a hot, dry summer, but perfectly timed summer rains delivered a beautifully generous and plump juice. The result in the glass is a stunningly harmonious, medium-bodied red. It balances forward fruit with a delicate, elegant structure, making it incredibly versatile for a weeknight roast or a cozy evening in.

✨ The Vibe: Effortless French elegance. It is sophisticated yet approachable, making it the perfect bottle to open when you want a classic, high-quality red without needing a special occasion to justify it.
🍓 The Profile: Forward red cherries, wild strawberries, and gentle tannins wrapped in a silky texture.
👑 The Finish: Delicious and lingering with a beautiful balance of crisp acidity and soft, elegant structure.

Fun Fact: Don’t let the label fool you! In the sparkling wine world, “Extra Dry” actually means the wine has a hint of sweetness and is sweeter than a “Brut.” It sounds totally backwards, but it makes it the absolute perfect style for mixing with juices because that touch of residual sugar balances the tart fruit!

QUESTION: What is your go-to juice for a mimosa mix? Are you team classic Orange, or do you like to mix it up with Grapefruit or Cranberry? 👇

CAMPO ITALIAN BISTRO & BAR
Wine: Zonin Gran Cuvée Extra Dry N.V.
Region: Veneto, Italy
ABV: 11%
Price: $24 a bottle (includes juice carafes!)
Thoughts: Had an awesome weekend brunch at Campo Italian! The $24 bottle of Zonin Prosecco is a total steal, especially since it comes with carafes of juice (we tried cranberry, orange, and grapefruit but pineapple is also an option!). Paired it with their breakfast pizza, which was absolutely delicious.

⚠️ THE URGENT SCOTTSDALE NEWS: Campo is only open for TWO MORE WEEKENDS for brunch before they close it down for the blazing summer heat! (Don’t worry, they are still open for lunch and dinner all summer long). Brunch will return in October, so you have exactly two weeks to get your fix! 🏃‍♀️

🥂 The Vibe: Lively, casual, and the ultimate weekend patio deal.
🍓 The Profile: Fresh green apple, bright pear, and subtle floral notes.
🍊 The Finish: Soft, crisp, and beautifully balanced by the fresh juices.

Fun Fact: Gamay is the “joyful” grape! While most red wines are meant to be served at room temperature, Gamay actually shines when it’s slightly chilled. It’s the ultimate “patio red” for a Scottsdale afternoon.

QUESTION: Are you a “red wine all year” person, or do you switch to whites the second it hits 90 degrees? 👇☀️

BOIRE GAMAY
Vintage: 2023
Region: Touraine, Loire Valley, France
ABV: 12.5%
Thoughts: This is exactly what you want when you’re sitting on a patio in the sunshine. It’s light-bodied, bursting with fresh berry notes, and has that signature Gamay “crunch”. If you’re usually a white wine drinker but want to dip your toes into reds, this is your gateway bottle! Snagged this delicious bottle from Postino Wine Cafe.

🍷 The Vibe: Bright, social, and effortlessly cool.
🍓 The Profile: Tart cranberry and wild raspberry with a hint of violet.
✨ The Finish: Zesty and incredibly clean.

Fun Fact: Is it a cheese or a grape? Both! Pecorino is an ancient Italian variety that was nearly extinct until it was rediscovered in the 1980s. Legend has it the grape got its name because the “Pecora” (sheep) in the Italian hills loved snacking on the high-sugar berries as they moved through the vineyards!

QUESTION: Have you ever tried Pecorino in a glass, or do you usually just keep it on your cheese board? 👇

BOTTAIA WINERY PECORINO
Vintage: 2023
Region: Temecula Valley, California
ABV: 13.5%
Thoughts: I love when Temecula leans into its “Northern Italy” inspiration. This Pecorino is a total palate-awakener! It has a rich, complex mouthfeel, almost a slight waxiness, but it’s balanced by a finish that is so tart and refreshing. If you like a zesty lime note that actually lingers, this is for you.

🐑 The Vibe: A perfect balance of depth and crispness.
🍋 The Profile: Honey and citrus blossom on the nose with a zesty, invigorating acidity.
🌿 The Finish: Clean, dry, and mouthwatering.

Fun Fact: Roussanne is often called the “elegant” Rhône variety, known for its herbal aromas and royal texture. It can be tricky to grow (it’s prone to rot and mildew), but when it’s sourced from a high-elevation site like Rhumb Line Vineyard in Willcox, it really finds its stride!

QUESTION: Roussanne is sometimes called the “red wine lover’s white” because of its body and complexity. Are you a fan of these richer Rhône whites, or do you stick to the super-crisp stuff? 👇

RUNE WINES ROUSSANNE
Vintage: 2023
Region: Willcox, Arizona
ABV: 13.5%
Production: Only 242 cases!
Thoughts: I’m typically a “stainless steel or bust” kind of white wine drinker, but Rune’s approach with neutral oak is a total game-changer. You get that luscious, velvety mouthfeel without any of the buttery or vanilla “oaked” notes that I usually stay away from.

James and the team really let the fruit shine here. It’s bright with red apple and pear, but it’s that dried apricot and hint of wildflower that makes it feel like a summer picnic in a glass. Luscious yet incredibly fresh.

🍇 The Source: 100% Roussanne from Rhumb Line Vineyard.
🛠️ The Process: Fermented in neutral oak barrels to elevate the texture while preserving the “zing.”
☀️ The Vibe: The perfect transition wine for Scottsdale Spring and Summer.

Fun Fact: Chatus is an ancient “resurrection” grape! It almost went extinct after the phylloxera plague in the 1800s. While it originated in France (Ardèche), it found a second home in the foothills of the Italian Alps near Saluzzo. It’s known for being incredibly tannic and deep in color, which makes it the perfect “muscle” to pair with Barbera’s high acidity.

QUESTION: Chatus was a new “discovery” grape for me. What’s the most unique or obscure wine you’ve tried lately? Let me know in the comments! 👇

CASCINA MELOGNIS “ARDY”
Vintage: 2019
Varieties: 70% Barbera, 30% Chatus
Region: Colline Saluzzesi DOC, Piedmont, Italy
ABV: 13.5%
Thoughts: A total standout from Far Away Wines And Provisions in Arcadia! It’s a “mountain” wine through and through. You get that classic Barbera snap of acidity, but the Chatus adds a grittier, darker soul. Wild plum, medicinal herbs, and a hint of to***co. It’s rugged but refined.

🍇 The Vines: Sourced from 45-50 year-old vines.
🏛️ The History: Named after the original vineyard owner, Ardy.
🛠️ The Process: Spontaneous fermentation, 12 months in neutral barrique, and 4 months in bottle.

Fun Fact: Why is this wine so “inky”? It’s all about the anthocyanins! Because Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah have tiny berries, there is a huge concentration of these natural pigments in the skins. It creates a wine so dark you can barely see through it in the glass. 🍷🖤

Wine of the Month: LES PETITES
Regions: Chile and California
ABV: 14.2%
Varieties: Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah
Notes: Blackberry pie, black cherry, currant jam, violet, dark chocolate
Personality: Inky and Dark
Pairing: Smoke-sweet barbecue

COOPER’S HAWK May 2026 tasting notes below. Favorite this month? Les Petites! 🏆 Two different labels. Which one are you choosing? 👇

🍷 Prosecco (Swap): Full of bright orchard fruit and high acidity - nothing beats bubbles!
🍷 GSM Rosé (Swap): Gorgeous strawberries and medium acidity. This is summer in a glass.
🍷 Bubbly Rosé: A hint of sweetness with bright cherries and lemon. Super refreshing!
🍷 Unoaked Chardonnay: So fresh! Pure yellow apple and lemon zest.
🍷 Global Cuvée: 100% Merlot. Black plum with a mysterious herbal finish.
🍷 Petite Sirah: TANNIC! Deep dark fruits with a savory hint of olive.
🍷 Les Petites: This will sell out. It’s blackberry pie in a glass but stays perfectly dry.
🍷 Camille Dauntless (Swap): A new bold wine in the Camille series by .wines 👏 The blend is primarily Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (68%) sourced from big-name regions like Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills. Great acidity! I’m tucking my bottle away for a year to let it mellow. ♥️ Swipe to see the amazing label of Camille Dauntless - there are even hidden ‘easter egg’ grapes on her poncho!

Fun Fact: Something big is taking root! Belted Vines is about to give us more reasons to fall in love with Stewart Ranch fruit. They will soon be in the planting phase for Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Chardonnay! It takes a few years of ‘struggle’ in the soil before these grapes are ready for the glass, but I think it’s going to be worth the wait. Personally, I’m counting down the days for that Syrah, but what about you?👇

BELTED VINES PINOT NOIR
Vintage: 2022
Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: Carneros, Napa Valley, California, USA
ABV: 14.4%
Thoughts: This isn’t your typical light-as-air Pinot. Just like the famous Belted Galloway cattle that roam the ranch, this wine has a lot of character and a sturdy backbone. Sourced from the Stewart Ranch in Carneros (the lowest elevation vineyard in Napa) this wine benefits from that thick San Pablo Bay fog and cool breezes. You can really feel that “Carneros cool” in the glass!

While the nose is all classic forest floor and cedar, the palate surprised me with its weight. It’s silky and generous, leaning into those darker “milk chocolate” and black cherry notes rather than just tart red fruit. For a Pinot, it has a serious presence that makes the ABV feel incredibly well-balanced. It definitely lives up to the “bold” reputation of the ranch!

Winemaker Notes: Aromas - Layers of spice, cedar and forest floor, with plum and clove as it opens up. Tasting Notes - Smooth and generous, with layers of cherry, milk chocolate, and hazelnut on the mid-palate and a tapering but persistent finish. 230 cases. Pairs well with asparagus wrapped in bacon, charcuterie and lamb chops.
⬅️don’t forget to go here for some “Oreo” cattle content!

Fun Fact: Ever wonder why this wine is called “The Bastard”? 🍷 It’s a cheeky nod to its “rebel” personality. While many Tuscan reds are strictly traditional and refined, Il Bastardo is designed to be a rule-breaker: intense, fruity, and approachable without the high price tag of its fancier cousins in the Chianti Classico zone.

IL BASTARDO SANGIOVESE ROSSO DI TOSCANA
Vintage: 2024
Varieties: 100% Sangiovese
Region: Tuscany, Italy
ABV: 13%
Thoughts: Enjoyed this at Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen for lunch. It is exactly what you want with an Italian meal: bright red cherry and black tea notes with that unmistakable Tuscan earthiness. It has a rustic charm that pairs perfectly with a wood-fired pizza or pasta! Honestly, I’m usually reaching for a Barbera for a pizza pairing, but this Sangiovese is making a serious case for itself!

What’s your favorite pizza wine?

Winemaker Notes: Sourced from the Rufina area of Tuscany, this Sangiovese is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh, jammy fruit character. Expect a medium-bodied profile with soft tannins and a long, fruity finish.

Fun Fact: Ever wonder why some rosés are pale peach while others are deep pink? It’s all about maceration. Since almost all grape juice is clear, that vibrant color comes strictly from the skins. For a bold rosé like “Pete,” the winemaker leaves the skins in contact with the juice for a few hours (or even a day) to extract that deep hue and extra structure before pressing.

FOUR TAILS VINEYARD PETE ROSÉ
Vintage: 2024
Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot
Region: Willcox, Arizona, USA
ABV: 13.5%
Thoughts: Forget everything you think you know about “pool water” rosé. Because this blend is built from big reds like Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah, it has a serious backbone. It’s bone-dry but exploding with ripe red fruit. Think sun-ripened strawberries and a hint of spice. The balance is the star here; even at 13.5% ABV, the “Zip” (acidity) is so crisp that it stays perfectly refreshing and never feels “heavy.” It’s bold enough to handle a messy smash burger, but sophisticated enough for a slow sip by the pool. 🍔🍷

Now I just need to get my hands on the 2025!

Winemaker Notes: This new rosé is reminiscent of our former rosés, but with a new twist. It’s still a darker, fun blend and only includes our estate fruit… It’s dry with a good amount of fruitiness that will leave you wondering what exactly you are tasting. Fun by the fire or the pool!
