It's our monthly Tonton Thursday movie screening again and it's happening this week.

If you've never been to a movie screening before in a coffee space, sitting on some classic salvaged rattan chairs, why not come and join us.

This time we will screen Still Alice, a 1985 American film based on a novel of the same name published in 2007.

Can you smelllll it?

Your next trip to Nui, you can try it.

Penang Kopi has been on the menu for a long time although we seldom promote it. It's our own blend of locally roasted coffee, giving it a unique flavour.

You can drink it black. You can drink it with condensed milk as Kopi Peng. You can have it as egg kopi too.

It's served on our classic collectible F&N glass cup. Once broken, my heart also broke.

When the stock of the week is finished, then it's finished.

One little activity that Nui has been consistently doing is our monthly Tonton Thursday movie screening. A night where we provide a space for people to go to and movie buff to gather. That brings us joy.

This time we will screen Tampopo, a 1985 Japanese comedy film.

Johor we are coming.. AGAIN!

It feels just like yesterday that we had a pop up in Johor. Yeah we went down to Batu Pahat for market in January. We took more than 10 hours to reach. We told ourselves that Johor quota for once a year is then full. No more in 2026. Gila penat! Punyalah jauh Johor dari Penang.

Eh but now we are going Johor again? It’s for the x . This event is one that we really anticipated and excited about. Mainly due to two reasons. It’s organised by .home.decor, someone Nui befriended ever since we started brewing coffee in in 2020. He has been working hard for this little market project of his. And secondly, the event is held in a picturesquare farm. It’s the first time for Nui to be serving coffee in such slow and green surroundings.

What makes it even more memorable is there’ll be vendors and friends from joining too. This will be a big together-gether outstation outing after Hin on The Move touring market in 2023.

Popi popi the weather is good so everyone can have a happy outing. Come and show some love to us kayz. Orang Johor, Melaka, NS mahupun Kayell semua mai lepak sekali ok. Kita mai santai-santai borak-borak.

Happy (belated) Chinese New Year! Keong Hee Huat Chai! Another CNY (17 Feb – 3 March) has passed and it’s another laujuak festive season!! So now, it’s time to post photos of the season in Nui and our community of .

Tq to those regulars who balik kampung to Penang and include Nui in your pitstops. Of course not to forget the new faces who came in to have your drinks and snacks. Hope you had a pleasant time here. Kamsiah as well for the CNY gifts, the oranges, cookies, desserts, cakes, dui lian (Chinese couplets), angpau. Happy lo!!!! Tq Saikong Tq Pei Pei. Tq helpers and volunteers.

CNY was sweeter this year as we had a special appearance by Mr Lee Eng Kew, historian and cultural researcher from Taiping, who serenaded the crowd with his Yue Qin, playing local Hokkien folk songs.

Big big hugs to you all.

We are deeply grateful that Nui space is still around and we have the opportunity to provide you with a safe space - to rest, escape, recharge, reconnect, do some readings or to settle your works.

Nui is happy to share that the reading room served not only for those who need to have a meeting or work but also to close their eyes for a quick nap, for parents to read to their kids, for old friends to catch up and for mums to breastfeed their newborns too.

Hope to see you guys again.

Childhood moment during Chinese New Year means we get to watch blockbuster HK and local movies on TV. Those wuxia films, big names such as Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau, Stephen Chow, Donnie Yen and also family-oriented comedy movies surely bring everyone together after dinner time. Now growing up, we watch lesser TV and glued to our phone often as shorter videos caught our attention more.

This Chinese New Year, Nui Kopi is gona watch a local Chinese movie with big big names for our February Tonton Thursday movie screening. I am sure we heard of the main actor’s songs before. And this movie was shot in Chew Jetty, Penang too. Try guess from the poster. The title contains the word “ice kacang” as well.

Nui Kopi today, Saturday, 17 Jan. It’s more like penning down our thoughts from what we observed and experienced. It’s a spontaneous decision that we decided to post today’s moments. Perhaps because we feel abit sentimental today. Things don’t stay forever. People come and go.

And it’s always nice to see travelers who step into Nui, having a short and quiet time to rest, plan their schedule before continuing their journey. Some, come back again and again during their stay or in their future trips. TQ.

Today is such a beautiful day.
Lovely warm sunlight, shadows and silhouettes.
People taking photos as memories.
Like-minded passionate people having their meeting.
Friends catching up.
Parents and cute boy playing our dinosaurs.
A good friend dropped by to have our Shin Ramen.
Little cute gifts to our friends.
Getting gifts.

This space is just magical. At least for us. It's a place we keep our passion running, with your continuous support. It's more than just serving what's on the menu. It's that smile, conversations, people and little events we host. The feeling of contentment at the end of the day when we close our doors is hard to describe by words.

We also want to record our little sadness and shock today when our two customers-turned-Nui friends share that they are leaving Penang soon. For good. Afterall, Penang is just their career pitstop. One is a chef who’s into gardening. One is an engineer graduate who’s into film.

Whenever you are, do remember us. Say hie when we bump into each other on the streets.

So yah.. thank you for reading.
