The aunties and uncles cooking your breakfast have all retired.

Everyday they are wrapping wontons one at a time, rolling the egg noodles, watching a fresh pot of sweet soup. Different one every day.

A Google review said it better than we could: "the wantan is filled, not just batter. The soup is not the typical MSG soup, it's pure fish broth."

Every bowl here is cooked by retired elders. They wrap the wontons, roll the egg noodles, boil the sweet soups, and roast the coffee. When you come for breakfast, you're not only getting a proper homemade meal, no MSG and no preservatives. You're giving them somewhere to be, work they're proud of, and people to feed.

一天一款糖水，本周五款 —— 怡保 Canning Garden 巴刹的五二，无味精小档。🍵

Five Two is run by retired elders. Every pot of 糖水 is cooked from scratch that morning — homemade, no MSG, no preservatives. We open Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 12pm, and Sunday until 1pm.

This week there's also something new at the coffee counter: Colombian Supremo, brewed in a moka pot. Stovetop, one small pot at a time — not something you expect to find in a wet market.

五二由退休长辈经营。每一锅糖水都是当天早上现煮的 —— 自家制作，无味精，无防腐剂。营业时间：周三至周日 8am–12pm，周日至 1pm。

本周咖啡台上多了一样：哥伦比亚 Supremo，用摩卡壶在炉上慢慢煮，一次一小壶。在巴刹里喝到这样的咖啡，不常有。

Watch closely: every wonton is wrapped by hand and filled with real prawn we pick ourselves — filling, not batter. The broth is ours too, simmered from scratch. No MSG, no preservatives, no shortcuts.

It's the kind of Cantonese wonton noodle you'd usually pay speciality-eatery prices for. We serve it at a hawker stall — around RM9 — cooked by our retired elders.

New this Sunday: handmade Ginger Milk Pudding (姜撞奶) at Five Two — the no-MSG dessert stall at Canning Garden Wet Market, Ipoh. ☀️

It's made the old Cantonese way — hot fresh milk poured over raw ginger juice so it sets on its own, no gelatine, no powder. Silky, warm, a little spicy-sweet.

It joins our weekly Chinese sweet soup (糖水) rotation — a different bowl each morning:
- Wed — mung bean with seaweed
- Thu — red bean, lily bulbs & lotus seeds
- Fri — black sesame
- Sat — walnut
- Sun — red bean dessert + the new ginger milk pudding 姜撞奶

Now permanent too: Cantonese wonton noodles, Hong Kong dan dan noodles, and fried turnip cake (plain or homemade XO sauce). All homemade, no MSG, no preservatives — cooked by our retired elders.

Five Two 五二 — the homemade, no-MSG kopitiam stall at Canning Garden Wet Market, Ipoh — will close for one day on Thursday, 25 June 2026, so our elderly aunties and uncles can rest. We're back as usual on Friday, 26 June.

Looking for a homemade breakfast in Canning Garden, Ipoh this week?
