5 TIPS FOR MAKING A PERFECT LAYER CAKE
Here are 5 tips for layer cake that are important for you to follow if you want to get beautiful and delicious results.
1. FOLLOW THE RECIPE 100%
If you want to make a layer cake, make sure you have read the recipe of your choice carefully. Read on a few times until you really understand and refer to someone who is used to producing layer cakes in case of doubt.
There are various ways and ingredients used to produce layer cakes. If you are not used to making layer cakes or are just trying them for the first time, make sure to 100% use the ingredients and steps as stated in the recipe.
2. TRY THE STEAM METHOD FIRST
Make the final decision whether to steam or bake cause by using the same ingredients you can make a choice of how to steam or bake. For those who just want to try, it is more recommended to use the steaming method because it will produce a softer layer cake and it will be easier.
3. CHOOSE QUALITY MATERIALS
Keep in mind, only quality ingredients can produce a delicious and beautiful layer cake as desired. So, if the material used is high quality butter, do not switch to margarine or buttercup.
4. PROVIDE MORE MATERIALS AS ‘BACKUP’
For those of you who are just learning, make sure you have an excess of material to avoid unwanted occurrences.
For example, the eggs used must be sufficient as the number in the recipe. To ensure that the eggs used are in good condition, break the eggs in the container first and then just put them one by one into the mixer. If you break an egg in the batter, chances are one of the eggs you use is rotten… ruin your whole batter!
6. CONTROL OVEN TEMPERATURE
Once finished layering, turn off the top flame, adjust the temperature to 100’C-170’C according to the heat of the respective oven (because the capacity and heat of the oven varies by type and habit), and bake again for 20 minutes using the bottom flame.
This way, all parts and layers of the cake can be ensured to cook evenly. Remove the cake from the tin while still hot and cool on a rack.
