Since 1936, Ho Seng Kee (HSK) Wanton Mee is a classic noodle brand in Johor Bahru with over
90 years of history. It evokes the memories of the Good Old Days with each Delicious Bite. HSK
has served across three to four generations of Johoreans and Singaporeans. The Proprietary Homemade Noodles are made using In-House Traditional Receipe. HSK has
always upheld on Quality Standard of its Egg Noodle. It's 100% Egg Based (Duck Eggs and
Chicken Eggs) and only High Protein (>14.5%) High Gluten Wheat Flour are used. There are No
Added Coloring nor Preservatives. As only Low Volume of Lye Water is added, there is
unnoticeable any Bitter Taste. Ho Seng (Full name: Ho Seng Kao) came from Mai Yuan Village in Xinhui
District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province of China. He settled in JB, before WWII, in search for
a better living. Started Humbly selling Wanton Mee on Shoulder Pole method and then on mobile Push-Cart along
Jalan Siu Nam, HSK's founding year was an Unsung Story. However, it was later authenticated by
Malaysia's Mainstream Chinese Press, Sin Chew Daily. The article confirms that Ho Seng's
Disciple, Mr. Luo had started selling wanton mee in Pontian in 1936, after learning the essence of
Noodle Making and Cooking Skills from Ho Seng. Thus we reservedly placed the year 1936 as
HSK's Founding Year. HSK moved into Restoran Chuan Seng after WWII as a stationary Noodle Stall to continue its
noodle business. Ho Seng passed away in 1963, Robin Ho quit school at age 16, to
continue his father's business. After picking up essential skills from his Mother & Cousin brothers,
Robin officially succeed as the 2nd Generation Successor in 1966. Robin works wholeheartedly with a Humble Attitude to preserve HSK's hand-kneaded noodle. His
Classic “Tossed-Dry” fashioned Wantan Mee has embeded into many loyal supporters' Memories. He continue to serve for 37 years in Restoran Chuan Seng before moving to Restoran Huo Lin at
Taman Century in 2003. Also in 2003, Elton Ho returned from Singapore to serve in HSK. Under intensive training by his
father Robin, Elton became the 3rd Generation Successor in 2008. In the same year. Elton acquired
Trademark and Servicemark for HSK to secure it's Unique Brand. In 2009, HSK moved to Jalan Kancil, a close proximity to former location. This move was to better
serve consumers as a Specialized Wantan Mee restaurant, under a Clean and Tidy Dining
Environment. Customer Volume rose steadily over the few years and the waiting time was
astonishing. In 2013, Robin has Officially Retired. To Improve on Waiting Time and to serve a Larger Customer Volume, HSK made a Bold Decision
to shift into City Square, a bustling shopping mall in 2015. The expansion has successfully
changed the One-Man Show to a Teamwork Model and a Curated Noodle Culture. HSK extended
its biz hours with Daily operation, in a comfortable ambience to give a pleasant dining experience. In June 2025, HSK shifted to Jalan Harimau Tarum, due to City Square Major Renovation Project. The neighbourhood location with extended business hours serves a wider range of customers from all walks of life. HSK Upholds the Concept of Continuing Traditional & Original flavors of Authentic JB Styled
Wanton Mee while introducing Innovative Cuisine & Local Favorites for customers to choose from. HSK Wants more people to enjoy its Authentic Johor Bahru Wonton Noodles. Therefore, We
Continuously Strives to make "Ho Seng Kee" one of Johor Bahru's Proud and Noteworthy Brands!
