Sabah Hospitality Fiesta is one of the most anticipated event especially by the hospitality players in Sabah and is listed as one of Sabah’s annual calendar events by Sabah Tourism Board. The Fiesta was first initiated in 1997 by the students of Asian Tourism Institute, now known as Asian Tourism International College. Under the supervision of the lecturers, the fiesta aims to create an enthusiast

ic spirit of competition among the tourism and hospitality industry players and at the same time, to showcase their talents in their respective fields as well as to display the high standards of the industry to the public. In 2006, this annual event was co-organised with Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Sabah/Labuan Chapter, the official national industry of Malaysia who works closely with the private and government sectors to re-energize the hospitality and tourism industry in Malaysia. Competitions include patisserie display, black box challenge, practical services, artistic fruit and vegetable carving, bartender flair and teh tarik competition. The Sabah Hospitality Fiesta also initiated a charity drive on the first day of the event where the funds are then channelled to a selected beneficiary. A productive and meaningful courtesy visit to Datuk Josie Lai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah (KePKAS), to share our vision for the upcoming Sabah Hospitality Fiesta (SHF) 2026 and Sabah Hospitality Expo (SOHEX) 2026, while seeking the ministry’s support in advancing these premier industry events.

Representing the delegation were Mr. Suresh Ramasamy, Chairman of MAH Sabah/Labuan Chapter and General Manager of Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu, and Datuk Seri Panglima Wong Khen Thau, President of ATI.

We thank Datuk Josie Lai and Ms. Sarah Nadia Simudah for the warm hospitality and insightful discussions as we work together to strengthen Sabah’s hospitality and tourism industry.
