Today I want to share a little throwback to the day our 2 new 3-deck ovens arrived..
This was something I had been dreaming and waiting for, for a very long time... and to finally upgrade our equipment and increase our production capacity for Kwa-Zo honestly felt surreal.
The journey to get here wasn’t easy at all...
There were many challenges behind the scenes that people never saw.
And of course… on THE day itself, the crane arrived late 😭
The supplier couldn’t wait any longer and had to leave, so when the crane finally came… we literally had to do everything ourselves together with the crane operator to get the ovens lifted up to the first floor.
It was SO HEAVY. Soooo stressful. And both chaotic & sweaty. 10/10 do not recommend 😂
But what made the moment even more emotional for me was… my Steve 💙
If you’ve been following our journey, you probably know Steve... my faithful oven that has been with me for 9 years since my UFO tart days in 2017.
And somehow… while the crane was literally lifting the new ovens upstairs… Steve finally gave up.
The door could no longer close properly and the oven just stopped functioning.
It honestly felt like he held on until he knew we were okay.
I actually teared up and said a few final words to Steve while, in the background, my staff were busy pushing and arranging the heavy ovens inside 🤣
That’s the funny thing about entrepreneurship.
Sometimes you don’t even get time to process your emotions.
You wipe your tears… then immediately called to continue working 😂
After getting both ovens in, we still had to assemble, calibrate and test bake our croissants to make sure everything worked properly.
Looking back now, despite the challenges, I am SO PROUD of how far Kwa-Zo has come.
From one small oven… to becoming a growing Halal-certified central kitchen dedicated to cafés, hotels, events and F&B brands for croissants and viennoiseries in Kota Kinabalu 🥐
May Kwa-Zo continue to grow, prosper and serve many more people in the years to come 💙 Amen....
