Back at Robert’s Char Kuey Teow in Section 17, and it’s still as good as I remembered.

The stall was started by Robert Khoo in the late 1980s, and he still runs his own at Golden Kim Wah in Damansara Kim. The Section 17 outlet is run by his former apprentice, Uncle Lim, who has been frying Robert’s style for decades.

The stall was previously at Restoran Say Huat, also in Section 17, and has since moved to Good Luck Restaurant, just around the corner — still very much in the same neighbourhood.

And the wok hei is still there — smoky, fragrant and nicely charred, with the classic prawns, egg, bean sprouts, chives and lap cheong.

Sadly, they had run out of cockles when I visited, so I’ll definitely be back earlier next time for the full experience.

Still one of those old-school PJ char kuey teow spots that has been around for more than three decades and is well worth revisiting.

Back at Robert’s Char Kuey Teow in Section 17, and it’s still as good as I remembered.

If you’re looking for a Japanese restaurant around Old Klang Road, Mitsu by Two Chefs at Millerz Square is one I’d put on the list.

What stood out most during our visit was the quality and freshness of the seafood. We tried the bluefin tuna, salmon and salmon belly sashimi, and all three came in generously thick cuts. The fish was fresh, clean-tasting and had a really satisfying bite, with the salmon belly bringing an extra layer of richness.

The Japanese oysters (Kara Kaki) were another highlight. Large, plump and nicely briny, with a clean ocean flavour that tasted wonderfully fresh.

For something completely different, the Truffle Uni Cold Pasta was one of my favourites. The cold pasta paired surprisingly well with the rich truffle and creamy uni, creating a luxurious combination without becoming overly heavy.

The Mitsu Signature Maki was equally indulgent, loaded with different seafood and toppings for plenty of flavour and texture in every bite.

The foie gras chawan mushi brought another kind of richness — silky smooth steamed egg topped with foie gras, making it both comforting and indulgent.

We also had the Spider Salad, which added some freshness and crunch to the spread.

The best part? I genuinely enjoyed every single dish we tried. From the fresh, thick-cut sashimi to the oysters, maki and more creative dishes, everything was well executed.

Definitely a meal that left me looking forward to a return visit.

Came to Delay No More Crab Seafood Restaurant with no particular expectations, but this turned out to be a surprisingly good meal.

Located in Hartamas, Delay No More is a Chinese-style seafood restaurant known for its crabs and fresh seafood. There were 11 of us, so we ordered their Super Big Deal Set for 4–6 pax and added a few extra dishes to complete the meal.

Honestly, every dish turned out better than expected. The steamed patin was nicely cooked and went well with the savoury soy sauce, while the prawns had a good texture with a simple but tasty sauce. The kam heong lala and assam squid brought more punchy flavours to the table.

But surprisingly, the sweet & sour chicken was one of my favourites. The chicken was well fried, and the sauce had a nice balance of sweet and tangy flavours.

No pork is served here, so if you’re looking for a pork-free Chinese restaurant, this is one worth considering. Their set menu is also quite good value, especially for a group or family dinner. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned, clean and comfortable too.

A meal that started with no expectations and ended up being a surprisingly solid find.

This was my first visit to HOMST TTDI, a Chinese-Muslim restaurant that has been around since 2002. It started in TTDI and has since grown into a small chain, offering a wide range of halal Chinese dishes, from noodles and fried rice to seafood, meat, taufu and dim sum.

The food was decent overall, but personally, I felt that it was missing some of that familiar Chinese-style cooking taste. The flavours were there, but I didn’t quite get the wok-hei or depth of seasoning that I usually look for in Chinese cuisine.

One thing I did like was the dining environment. The TTDI outlet is clean, modern and comfortable, with air-conditioning throughout — definitely a pleasant setting for a casual family or group meal.

Overall, HOMST is a decent option if you’re looking for a halal Chinese restaurant with a wide-ranging menu, though for me, the food could have had a little more of that distinctive Chinese cooking character.

I’ve been to Luck Bros Puchong a few times now, and it’s easily become one of my favourite lunch spots in Puchong.

The biggest reason? It’s one of those places that’s just easy. Air-conditioned, plenty of parking, good food, and prices that don’t feel over the top.

The little extras make it even better too. They have free self-service refillable soup, ice lollies, and even popcorn while you’re there.

This visit, I tried their Signature River Prawn Noodle and it completely lived up to the hype. The prawns were a decent size for the price, and the gravy had a rich umami flavour with prawn roe infused into it. Definitely one I’d come back for again.

Their Signature Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng was another winner. The chicken was crispy, topped with fragrant serunding, and the portion was generous. It also came with three different sambals, so every bite had a different flavour combination.

One more reason to come during lunch—there’s a weekday bottomless Kopi Kaw Kaw promo for just RM1.99 with your meal, which makes it even better value.

If you’re looking for a comfortable lunch spot in Puchong with solid Malaysian comfort food at reasonable prices, this is one that’s worth keeping on your list.
