Back in Montalcino! This is our 3rd time visiting, and seeing old friends like & is always such a joy!
We spent the day tasting through a vertical from 2002 all the way to 2019. It felt like walking through Stella’s entire journey from the very beginning to now, seeing firsthand how the wines have evolved, becoming so silky, vibrant, and full of life. There’s nothing like sharing these stories and a few laughs under the Tuscan sun!
*Stella’s story is truly incredible. The Podere San Giuseppe vineyard dates back to 1910, but it sat abandoned for yrs until Stella took over in 1992 and breathed new life into it. She’s been a pioneer from the start, moving to organic farming in 1996 and becoming fully biodynamic by 2002. Her approach is one of radical gentleness, letting the vines breathe and the terroir speak without interference. It’s that deep connection to the land that gives her wine such a “piercing” quality: a mix of floral notes, and an untamed, wild spirit that’s just so addictive. Her style isn’t your typical heavy, traditional Brunello, and that is exactly what makes her so special in the market.
Sharing this experience with fellow importers from around the world reminded me why we do what we do. It isn’t just about the market or the scores; it’s about the soul behind the bottle.
