Cassoulet, a french specialty of southwest

This year’s family holiday is at Carcassonne. The fortified medieval city is a must visit. And its signature dish ‘Cassoulet’ is also on the ‘must do’ list.

cassoulet was invented in 1355 in the town of Castelnaudary, under siege by the English during the Hundred Years' War. The current name is a diminutive of the Languedoc cassolo – a cooking pot. So Traditionally the dish is cooked in an earthenwarepot, called a cassole, provided it is deep and wide".

What’s in a cassoulet?
Briefly to say, it’s a haricot bean and meat stew.
At least 30 per cent pork (which can include sausage and Toulouse sausage), mutton or preserved goose; and up to 70 per cent haricot beans and stock, fresh pork rind, herbs and flavourings.
All these ingredients will be slowly cooked in the cassole pot for a few hours, giving the final creamy, rich and meat/fat melting dish😍

Be cautious : it’s so good to resisting, however because of quantity of beans and fats, it can be difficult for the digestion😬

Yet, It’s definitely worthy a try!

Carcassonne area is a great tourism destination: visiting the charming villages & gardens, exploring the caves, taking a boat on the midi canal or simply walking in the stunning sunflowers’ fields🤩🌻🌻

Amazing burmese cuisine in London

It’s not easy to find the authentic burmese cuisine in Europe. None in Paris…there are a few in London, however, some of them only do pop up events…and some others are not really burmese (Thai or Laotien etc)
Lahpet becomes to be my only option on the list…and it doesn’t disappoint me..

The word lahpet is Burmese for tealeaf, its national dish, that I have mentioned in my previous posts. Here I hope to explore more.

It really amazes me is that Lahpet keeps the traditional burmese cuisine flavours, with a western twist to make the modern and exquisite dishes. The cuisine is based on sweet, sour, salty and spicy and it’s a balance of all of them.

More will be explained in photos so that you can understand what I mean.

The restaurant is located at the vibrant Covern Garden area, always packed that you’d better book the table earlier.

So hilarious to see these people’s reactions and their comments!
Ok it’s about the Indonesian specialities . I’m in Malaysia. These two countries do share many similarities on food, especially the beef redang, always the best🥰
