"What do you mean this isn't chicken?"
This time in What I Ate in KL, we're at Roots Bangsar (.malaysia) to try their Ayam Gepuk XL.
And honestly... the portion size is ridiculous.
It's so huge they've even turned it into an eating challenge.
But here's the crazy part.
This isn't chicken at all.
It's actually made from crispy oyster mushrooms.
๐ฝ๏ธ What we tried:
* Ayam Gepuk XL โ Crispy, spicy, and surprisingly convincing. If nobody told me it was plant-based, I would've believed it was ayam. The sambal is made without garlic or onion and infused with gac fruit, giving it a unique spicy-sweet flavour.
* Nasi Lemak Risotto โ Creamy, rich, and a fun fusion twist on a Malaysian classic.
* Homemade Basil Pesto Pasta โ Fresh, fragrant, and a lighter option if you're not craving something spicy.
* 5 Cheese Pizza โ Loaded with five different cheeses, making it extra cheesy and indulgent.
๐ฅค Drinks:
* Pink Guava Espresso โ Fruity with a coffee kick.
* Coconutfee โ A refreshing combination of coconut and coffee that works surprisingly well.
