As Malaysia is currently still battling rising Covid-19 cases, most of the restaurants had instilled precautions to adhere to SOPs set by the government. With limited available daily seatings, the city’s finest restaurants could be seen having a surge in bookings, usually 1-2 months in advance. After months of anticipation since their closing, Eat+Cook newly re-opened their doors to the public offering Malaysian gourmet omakase experience in the heart of Bukit Jalil. As Omakase is a form of Japanese dining in which the menu is left to the hands of the chef to curate, Chef Lee and Chef Yong assured us that they only source for the finest farm-based ingredients that are available locally depending on the seasons.
We opted for both their 5 and 8-Course Journey, with each course hinting on a different sensation to pamper our taste buds. Here are all the dishes that we loved.
• The Veg Sensation of Carrot and Sweet Leaf 🥕 🌿
These two mini tarts are served as an appetiser. The first tart is made out of everything carrot and the second tart is made from sweet leaf. It’s definitely something very interesting and stimulating for our appetites. A P P E T I Z I N G

Mushroom lovers will definitely love this dish! A combination of different types of mushroom in one dish. 6 days dehydrated enoki mushroom, grilled king oyster mushroom served with soy and wild garlic oil, mushroom lentil with chop shiitake mushroom, pickled shimeji with cumin and finished with wild jungle garlic oil. Our gastronomical feast with the reincarnated Eat+Cook left us amazed at the creativity shown on the plates by the two young talented chefs. It would be safe to say that this is our first time trying out a Malaysian fine dining Omakase experience and they have set the benchmark really high for other future restaurants to compete at their creativity and knowledge for food. We would also like to applaud both chefs who patiently took their time in explaining every detail and local elements in every dish served to us. As they change their menu every few months, we can’t wait to try out their menu for the next season. 😍
