Melaka Unplugged: Five Bottles, Zero Pretense.
Sometimes the best way to respect a great wine is to stop talking about it and just drink it.
Escaping to Melaka for the weekend isn’t about following rules. It’s about the heat, the streets, the insane local flavors, and having the exact right bottle for every mood.
When the afternoon sun was blazing, we didn't overthink it. We went straight for the Smiley Sauvignon Blanc and the Preface. Bone-chilled, crisp, and ridiculously refreshing. Exactly what you need to cut through the tropical humidity.
When the sun dipped and the heavy, spicy local street food hit the table, the Arthur Metz Gewürztraminer took over. Bold, aromatic, and totally unapologetic—it handled the heat effortlessly.
But once the night truly settled in, we brought out the heavy hitters. Les Trois Médoc delivered that classic, dark-fruit Bordeaux punch, paving the way for the ultimate closer: Les Trois Fronsac. Deep, velvety, and rich enough to shut the evening down perfectly.
No lectures. No overthinking. Just five incredible bottles making a damn good weekend even better. Cheers to that. 🍷
