Sejarah awal pembukaan Nelson's

Ketika awal tahun 1980-an, Nelson bermula dengan membuka kedai alat permainan kanak-kanak. Masa satu petang tu, tiba-tiba dia didatangi seorang lelaki yang membawa sebuah bakul berisi jagung. Ketika itu Nelson hanya membeli beberapa tongkol jagung je untuk dimakan bersama keluarganya. Namun, daripada keenakan jagung itu, telah mencetuskan idea kepadanya untuk membuka bisnes jagung dan melantik lelaki tersebut sebagai pembekal utama jagung. Nelson kemudiannya membuka gerai kecil di hadapan kedai permainannya untuk menjual jagung.
Hari ke hari jagung jualannya mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan sehingga adakalanya bekalan jagung habis sebelum waktunya.

Dari gerai tepi jalan ke supermarket

Tahun 1985 menjadi permulaan kepada pengenalan jenama Nelson Corn (jagung manis) di Jaya Supermarket. Hari pertama berniaga di pasaraya mereka suami isteri diserbu orang awam yang sanggup beratur panjang untuk menikmati keenakan jagung Nelson sehingga jagungnya habis dijual dengan masa yang singkat. Pada ketika itu jagung masih dijual mengikut tongkol dan sehari dia boleh jual sebanyak sebanyak 1,000 tongkol!

Tercipta idea jagung cawan

Budaya memakan jagung di dalam cawan dipelopori oleh Nelson dan pada waktu tu dia merupakan satu-satunya perusahaan makanan ringan yang berasaskan jagung pertama di dunia menggunakan pendekatan sedemikian. Pulau Pinang menjadi cawangan pertama selepas Jaya Supermarket. Ia diikuti dengan pembukaan Nelson Corn di Kompleks PKNS, Seksyen 14, Shah Alam, Selangor. Menerusi program francais, Nelson kemudiannya menyenaraikan Nelson Corn sebagai sebuah perusahaan francais di Malaysia sehingga lah ke hari ini. Kini Nelson Corn telah berkembang di 16 buah negara dengan jumlah kedai melebihi 800 buah dan dijangka akan terus bertambah.
