Empowering Learning Through Action: Our SDG 4 Journey

Our team’s project was more than a sales activity—it was an experience that embodied SDG 4: Quality Education. By planning, organising, and running our small food business, we learned through action, gaining skills that traditional classrooms do not always teach.

We had to collaborate effectively, assign roles, share ideas, and solve problems from the beginning. We practised critical thinking and decision-making as we managed budgets, planned quantities, and adapted to challenges. These experiences taught us the importance of communication, responsibility, and teamwork—key elements of lifelong learning.

The project also gave us real experience in entrepreneurship and financial literacy. We learned how to balance costs, set fair prices, and understand the effort behind every sale. Beyond that, we became more aware of sustainability and ethics, learning to minimize waste and make mindful choices that support our community and environment.

Most importantly, this experience showed us that education does not only happen in classrooms. Real learning comes from doing, reflecting, and growing together. Through this project, our team discovered our potential to think creatively, act responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to a better future—the true essence of Quality Education.

Tackling Hunger through Entrepreneurship: Our SDG 2 Project

Our team’s project is closely linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 which is Zero Hunger. Through our small food business, we aimed to increase food accessibility, minimise food waste, and support local food systems, while developing essential skills in teamwork and entrepreneurship.

We focused on selling our products at student-friendly prices, ensuring that energy-boosting snacks were affordable and accessible to everyone in our school community. This supports SDG 2’s mission to end Hunger by promoting equal access to nutritious food.

As a team, we also put our attention on reducing food waste by carefully planning our production batches and avoiding excess. Any leftover food was shared as samples or given away to others so we can use available resources and reduce our environmental impact. By managing ingredients responsibly, we contributed to reducing food loss which is an important step towards global food sustainability.

In addition, we sourced ingredients locally to support small-scale farmers and local producers. This strengthened our community’s food systems and encouraged more sustainable and ethical consumption habits.

Most importantly, this project allowed us to learn through practical experience. We gained valuable skills in entrepreneurship, budgeting, problem-solving, and collaboration. Together, we learned that even small, student-led initiatives can make a meaningful contribution to ending Hunger and building a more sustainable future for all.

The journey of Twist and Fizz has made all of us learn a lot from it (SDG 4), such as management and finance. This is surely an experience that we will never forget.
