Hands down one of the best unagi meals in town — the flavour and texture are spot on, just like in Japan. The unagi is grilled to perfection, with beautifully crispy edges and tender flesh inside. Every bite is elevated by their rich, well-balanced sauce that keeps you craving more.

A must-visit for unagi lovers, and definitely a place I’ll be coming back to again. 🍱✨

Tucked away in SS15/4 Subang, is one of those rare gems that transports you straight back to Japan the moment you walk in. No frills, no fuss — just an authentic, old-school yakitori joint that focuses on what truly matters: incredible food.

The heart of Sumika is its Japanese chef, Ota-san, who quietly works his magic behind the charcoal grill every night. Watching him is like watching a master at his craft — every skewer patiently grilled, every piece of meat handled with care, every flame controlled with precision. It’s the kind of dedication you don’t see every day.

Each skewer that comes out is a highlight on its own. Juicy, smoky, perfectly seasoned — you can taste the skill and tradition in every bite. Whether it’s the chicken thigh, tsukune, or any of the specials of the day, the quality is consistently top-notch.

Because Sumika is so well-loved, the place fills up fast. It’s almost always fully booked, so make sure you reserve a table before heading over.

It beautifully captures the essence of a classic Japanese izakaya, but with a modern KL twist that makes it perfect for casual dinners, gatherings, or even a simple unwind-after-work meal.

– A Night to Remember

Dining at Wagyu Kappo Yoshida felt like being part of a quiet, beautiful performance — one that blended skill, passion, and genuine warmth. From the moment we sat down at the counter, we could feel the calm energy of the kitchen. Every movement from the chef was so precise yet effortless, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable evening.

The star of the night was, without a doubt, the Wagyu beef. The marbling was stunning, and each slice melted the second it touched my tongue. It was rich, buttery, and full of deep flavor — the kind that makes you pause for a moment just to appreciate it. You could really taste the care and expertise behind every bite.

We went for both the Kaisen and Wagyu menus so we could share and try a little bit of everything — and I’m so glad we did. Each course came out beautifully presented, thoughtfully balanced, and perfectly timed. There was a lovely flow to the omakase, almost like a story being told through food — each dish adding a new chapter.

What made the experience even more special was the service. The team was so warm and attentive without ever feeling too formal. You can really feel their pride and sincerity in what they do, which makes the whole evening even more memorable.

The food here is truly something special. Every dish reflects careful preparation and fine taste. The mussels were incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and beautifully dressed. The foie gras tart was rich and indulgent, while the tuna tartare stood out for its freshness and lovely pairing with delicate flower vegetables. The prawn risotto was deeply flavorful, bursting with the essence of seafood, and the duck breast was simply scrumdillyumptious — tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection.

The chef-owner, a native Hongkonger🇭🇰, masterfully revives the lost art of 60s–80s Cantonese hand-crafted cuisine — each dish bringing nostalgia to life with incredible attention to detail.

Highly recommended dishes:
1. 秘制脆皮乳猪糯米卷 (Crispy Suckling Pig with Glutinous Rice)
2. 80年代芝麻脆皮鸡 (80s-Style Crispy Sesame Chicken)
3. 黑松露蛋猪油渣腊味煲仔饭 (Claypot Rice with Truffle Egg, Lard Crumbs & Waxed Meats)
4. 仙鹤神针(红烧鸽吞翅鲍)(Braised Pigeon with Stuffed Wing & Abalone)
5. 陈年花雕鸡油蒸蟹配陈村粉 (Steamed Crab in Aged Huadiao Wine with Flat Rice Noodles)

Each dish was full of rich, layered flavors that truly transport you back in time — this was my first time experiencing some of these rare, traditional recipes. The ingredients were fresh and clearly of premium quality, and you could taste the passion behind every bite.

The service was just as impressive: attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. The staff took the time to explain each dish, its history, and the cooking methods — a thoughtful touch that elevated the entire dining experience.

A rare find in Malaysia, this place is a must-visit for those who appreciate refined Cantonese cuisine and nostalgic flavors done right. Definitely worth every cent!
