Azienda Agricola Denavolo, founded in 2005, is a small, family-owned estate in Piacenza, Italy, nestled between the Trebbia and Nure Valleys. With a continental climate, the estate’s vineyards, planted between 350-600 meters in altitude, feature clay-limestone soils, ideal for producing traditional and local wines 🍇. The estate cultivates Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo, Marsanne (locally known as Sciampagnino), and unidentified native varietals, with the oldest vines dating back to 1975 🌿.
Denavolo produces three key wines. Dinavolo comes from higher-altitude plots with poor, stony soil, creating a concentrated, complex wine 🍷 with balsamic, herbaceous, and citrus notes 🍋. It's ideal for pairing with soft cheeses 🧀, white meats, and fatty fish 🐟. Dinavolino, sourced from lower-altitude plots with richer soil, is lighter, fruitier, and more approachable in its youth, perfect for salumi, pasta 🍝, and delicate fish dishes 🐠.
In 2008, new plots were planted at higher altitudes, including varieties like Santa Maria, Sauvignon Blanc, Trebbiano, and Muscat 🍇. From these young vines, Denavolo produces Catavela, a fresh, light white wine 🍷 with short skin maceration and no added sulfites, reflecting the estate's commitment to natural winemaking 🌍
