Originally found & more popular in Singapore as a Breakfast or Tea time dish.
It is served with soften beehoon cooked in a bit of sambal, topped with taugeh, chives, tofu/taupok, boiled eggs, a sliced lime and a dollop of sambal in generous servings of sweet, sour, tangy red gravy with bits of taucho & sweet prawns. Back in school in the 80s, I used to buy this for 20-40cents at the school canteen if memory serves me well. It was my go to recess time order. And the greatest achievement was to be able to finish this without any ‘red dots or splashes’ on my white school top! The auntie at the stall would instantly recognise me and my order even before I said anything! It was the memory of eating this that moved me to create Leomie back in 2019 and it was during the lockdown period of 2020 that inspired me further to package this so that it can be posted to Singaporeans abroad because, just like them, even though we reside just 300-odd km up in KL, we miss the Taste of Home! Leomie is created due to my love for this particular dish which is a Heritage Food that only true blood Singaporeans would recognise in a heart beat.
