For Scuba diving try one of these companies in Ponta: Oceana Diving, The Whaler in the campsite, Simply Scuba in Motel del Mar, Back to Basics Adventures and Phambuka-Blowing Bubbles. Dolphin swim operators, please don't get confused as the Ponta Partial Marine Reserve has only selected a few licensed operators within each bay within the Ponta bay one of the operators is The Dolphin Centre situated just before the campsite boom gate, one in the Malongane camp and one at the Ponta Memoli white pearl Resort. Please make sure to select one of these operators as they follow a regulated code of conduct stay away from illegal dolphin trips advertising reduced rates. Places to eat are Bulu bula, Fishmonger, Love cafe, Tarragons, Mango Cafe above the Dolphin centre and Beach Bar in the campsite!

We've been having such an incredible Humpback whale season here in Ponta do Ouro, and we're so grateful for it. It wouldn't be without the amazing efforts of everyone involved in marine life conservation, especially since historical whaling along southern Africa drove the Humpback whales into near extinction. It's beautiful to see the recovery of these magnificent creatures with approximately 30 000 migrating through our waters, when records show that there were only 600 in the late 1970s.

While we celebrate this, let's remember that there are other species around the world that are in danger. If we want to be able to witness moments like these across the world, we need to focus on conservation efforts to protect and restore endangered species worldwide.

Whales have a multifaceted impact on the marine ecosystem, from nutrient cycling to carbon sequestration and the regulation of prey populations. Their presence and activities contribute to the overall health and balance of oceans, underscoring the importance of their conservation.
