This dove was sunbathing on our roof. Initially we thought he was dead... But then we saw him moving, and putting his other wing up in the air! Then another dove did the same thing! They must have been enjoying the sun up there 😉

This young nyala bull is taking off! The nyala is a beautiful, but at the same time quite a secretive antelope. Males look very different than the females, with their spiral horns and dark long coat.

Nyalas are both grazers and browsers, and like to stay around the more densely bushed areas where they can easily hide. They are masters in camouflage!

This tortoise visited our garden, and started eating the wet soil. Namibian tortoises eat sand mainly to supplement minerals (especially calcium), but it also helps them to digest fibrous plants, and sometimes to control internal parasites.

This behaviour is called geophagy (soil eating); a natural supplement strategy!

We can assist you with travel arrangements, dates and times. It is important to note that since 2025 Namibia has a visa system. Fortunately it is an easy online application. Make sure you have the following documentation:

From our Kalahari sands straight into the pan! Namibian truffles, or !Nabas, are a rare gift after the rains.

We clean them, slice them thin, and bake in golden ghee, with just a touch of salt and black pepper. Ghee is butterfat made by heating cream until all the moisture is gone, leaving a rich fat that sets like butter. Like this, we can keep it for a long time without having to put it in the fridge.

He has been hunting the Kalahari desert and other parts of Africa throughout his childhood years. Now, in his thirties, he is considered a veteran of the sport and has the amazing ability to put hunters on record-size trophies. In 2003 we started Kalahari Hunting Safaris, and since 2022 we operate under ''Johan Kotze Hunting Safaris''. We have managed this land for over 3 generations and offer our guests superior hunts and exceptional world-class trophies. We limit our group size to six persons at a time. This ensures that our guests are well catered to and experience an intimate hunting safari adventure in our pristine wilderness.

​We strive to exceed your every expectation; whether it be the hunting, accommodation, Kobrie's exquisite European and African flavour meals, the equipment, friendly helpful staff and the assistance necessary to make your trip to Namibia, Africa, hassle free. To meet this standard, we believe it can only be accomplished by continuing what we set out to do from the very start. Our lodge is situated in the plains of the Kalahari Desert. Here you will wake early in the morning to experience what has become some of the best plains game hunting in the world at your doorstep. After a day's hunt is over, be prepared to indulge in Kobrie's famous European and African cuisine.

After a delightful dinner and seeing the sun dip once more into the red Kalahari dunes, hunters will have spacious and comfortable accommodations waiting for them. Each room sleeps 2 hunters and we prefer to have no more than 6 guests at a time. This allows our guests to receive first class service by our 20+ full-time staff.
