Rom 7:1-4
The scriptures above use the Law of Marriage as an example to explain the truth concerning our death IN Christ and our New Life IN Christ.
The law states that as long as the husband is alive the wife is not free to marry another man otherwise she will be an adulteress but if the husband dies, she is freed from the law to marry another.
Now the application to our reality in Christ is this, When we were baptised into Jesus Christ, we were baptised into His Death! (Rom 6:1-5). The Old man (Adam - we were in Adam) has been buried and we have been planted together in the likeness of Christ's death. We were united with Adam and therefore brought forth FRUIT. This Fruit was a sinful life.
Having been buried and died with Christ, I am now FREE to marry (be united, be one with) another and that being Christ! The scripture says he that is joined unto his wife is one flesh BUT he that is joined unto the Lord is ONE SPIRIT! So, Christ needed to bury me into His Death, so I could be untied to Him.
Christ is my HEAD and I Am ONE with Him. Now I am able to bring forth NEW FRUIT, which is a holy life and the fruit of the Spirit.
So, the Key to new FRUIT in your life is very simple - SUBMIT to your HEAD, Christ! Your union, your intimacy with Him and submission to Him will produce a righteous life! While you have been freed from the Law, you have not been freed from OBEDIENCE!
